The May 20 episode of WWE NXT was the go-home show for Battleground 2025!
The May 20 episode of WWE NXT aired live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show served as the go-home show for the 2025 edition of Battleground, which is set to emanate from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
Stars set to clash on Sunday met for the final time, as the feuds reached a boiling point. This week’s show kicked off with a triple-threat match where Sean Legacy emerged victorious against Ashante Adonis and Je’Von Evans.
As announced, the show featured a rap performance by Trick Williams and a concert by TNA World Champion Joe Hendry. The night took a wild turn when a brief brawl broke out between the two, with Hendry ultimately coming out on top to close the show. The two stars will now battle on May 25 for the TNA World title.
Furthermore, Josh Briggs suffered defeat at the hands of Shawn Spears in the second match of the show, while OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima) defeated Kale Dixon & Uriah Connors in a tag team match.
NXT Champion Oba Femi and Myles Borne also met for the final time ahead of their clash this Sunday. However, Femi was laid out by WWE LFG’s Jasper Troy, who retreated as Borne rushed back to the ring.
Additionally, Lola Vice defeated Fallon Henley while Kelani Jordan defeated Zario to earn a shot at the NXT North American Championship, which is currently held by Sol Ruca. During the go-home show, the promotion also announced a match for next week’s show, which will serve as the fallout show from Battleground.
NXT North American Champion Rick Saints is set to defend the title against Ethan Page following their brawl this week, which brought out the constant hatred between them, forcing General Manager Ava to make the match official.
The May 27th episode of WWE NXT will no longer emanate from Tampa following NXT Battleground 2025. Originally, the event was scheduled to take place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, alongside several other shows.
Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24th, NXT Battleground on May 25th, Monday Night Raw on May 26th, and NXT TV on May 27th were all set to be held at the same venue. According to Ticketmaster, the event has been canceled, and the NXT TV listing has also been removed from the Yuengling Center’s website.
The episode will now emanate from the Performance Centre in Orlando and will feature Jasper Troy’s in-ring debut along with a two-singles match featuring TNA’s Mike Santana, who will battle Travion Heights, while Tatum Paxley will battle Jaida Parker.
NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer is also set for a title defense against Jacy Jayne after their backstage brawl at NXT Battleground.
