WWE Royal Rumble is just around the corner
The road to WrestleMania 41 begins with one of WWE’s most anticipated events of the year: Royal Rumble 2025! This year’s spectacle, aptly dubbed Royal Rumble: Indianapolis, will break tradition by taking place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the iconic Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana marking the first time in history the event will happen outside of January.
As the 38th annual Royal Rumble, the event promises to deliver high-stakes drama, incredible athleticism, and surprises aplenty, featuring Superstars from Raw and SmackDown competing for the ultimate prize: a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 41.
This year’s Royal Rumble also makes history as WWE’s first premium live event to air on Netflix in most international markets, solidifying a groundbreaking new chapter for WWE’s global audience. Fans will witness thrilling showdowns, including the iconic 30-man and 30-woman Royal Rumble matches, where the winners earn the right to challenge for a top-tier championship of their choosing.
With several exciting matches already confirmed and the promise of unforgettable moments, the Royal Rumble 2025 is shaping up to be an event for the ages. Here’s a complete rundown of all the matches set to take place at this monumental event.
All confirmed matches for WWE Royal Rumble 2025
- Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship (Ladder Match)
- Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano (c) (DIY) vs Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin (Motor City Machine Guns) – 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship
Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship (Ladder Match)
The final WWE SmackDown of 2024 pulled out all the brakes, preparing for the high-stakes title fight at WWE Royal Rumble 2025. Friday night, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis ordered Kevin Owens to give up the Winged-Eagle Championship before the show ended.
As predicted, Kevin Owens did nothing, allowing Cody Rhodes to return to SmackDown despite being wounded after the terrible attack he received at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Everyone expected Cody Rhodes to demand that Kevin Owens give up the belt, but they were surprised when he didn’t. Instead, “American Nightmare” issued a challenge to the Royal Rumble.
He wanted Kevin Owens to defend his stolen championship against Cody’s Undisputed WWE Championship in a Ladder Match at the inaugural WWE PLE in 2025, the Royal Rumble. Cody instructed Nick Aldis to make it official right then and there.
The SmackDown General Manager quickly declared that this bout will take place on February 1st, 2025, in Indianapolis.
DIY (c) vs MCMG – 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship
After defeating Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) in the 01/24 episode of SmackDown, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin punched their ticket for another rematch against Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa for the tag titles.
Later in the show during a backstage segment involving General Manager Nick Aldis, Shelley and Sabin informed the tag champions about their upcoming clash at the Rumble PLE next week in Indianapolis.
Ciampa and Gargano will defend the tag titles in a rematch against Shelley and Sabin in a two-out-of-three fall match at the Lucas Oil Stadium on February 1. This will be Motor City Machine Guns’ PLE debut and the tag title.
Furthermore, this will be the first time the tag titles will be defended on a PLE with the last time being at WrestleMania 40 PLE.
