The 20th edition will be John Cena’s first Backlash appearance since 2009!
The 2025 edition of WWE Backlash is set to deliver an action-packed night of wrestling as it returns for its 20th edition. The PLE will take place on Saturday, May 10, from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
The show will follow WrestleMania 41, which delivered two nights of unforgettable moments and multiple title changes. WWE is planning to deliver a similar experience for fans; the main event of the show will feature John Cena defending the Undisputed title for the first time against Randy Orton.
This is Cena’s first Backlash appearance since 2009 and also his final appearance as he is set to retire at the end of 2025. Furthermore, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is set to lock horns with WWE Broadcaster and iconic sports analyst Pat McAfee in a singles match.
WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria will put the title on the line against Becky Lynch on May 10th. The match was set up following their fallout on Raw after WrestleMania, where Lynch turned on Lyra after losing the Women’s Tag Team titles.
Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio is also set for a title defense at the PLE as he will meet Penta in a rematch. While Jacob Fatu will defend the United States title in a fatal-four way match against LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest.
