Tampa, Florida, will host the first PLE after WrestleMania 42.
With the conclusion of WrestleMania 42, WWE kicked off the build towards the Backlash after WrestleMania. The 2026 edition of the Backlash event is set for Saturday, May 9, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Among the matches announced is a World Heavyweight title clash where the newly crowned Champion, Roman Reigns, battles Jacob Fatu, in what is his first title defense after capturing the title at WrestleMania 42 by defeating CM Punk.
Meanwhile, the feud between Iyo Sky and Asuka has come to a boiling conclusion as the former mentor and mentee collide in a grudge match, while Danhausen teams up with a mystery opponent to take on the team of Kit Wilson and The Miz.
On the other hand, after dismantling the Gingerbread Man, Sami Zayn riled up Trick Williams into granting him the United States title rematch. Williams will now take on Zayn in the Mania rematch, with him defending the US title this time around.
Additionally, Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker will lock horns for the first time in their feud since Breakker turned on Rollins and kicked him out of the faction. The feud was revived once Rollins returned at WWE Elimination Chamber to terrorize the Vision and Breakker, who himself was out due to injury, returned at Mania to cost Rollins the match against Gunther.

WWE Backlash 2026 will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. This marks WWE’s first major event to be held in Tampa since Hell in a Cell in 2021 during the ThunderDome era.

Fans in the United States can watch on ESPN’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, while international fans can tune into Netflix in most markets. SuperSport will carry the event in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Abema will air it in Japan.
