Drew McIntyre will address the attack on Cody Rhodes!
As Clash in Paris draws near, storylines and rivalries are set to intensify, and this week’s WWE SmackDown will be no exception. The promotion will likely announce more matches for the PLE, and announced matches will continue to build excitement among fans.
The August 15 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is set to emanate live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Multiple top names, including WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, LA Knight, and Jacob Fatu, are advertised for the show.
The Miz and Carmelo Hayes are set to battle in a tag team match. They will now battle the former NXT Tag Champs Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer) this week. The match itself was revealed during a backstage segment where Miz tried to explain, leaving Hayes hanging for nearly two months.
In another segment, the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) reacted to an eerie promo by Wyatt Sicks when DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tomasso Ciampa) approached to berate them for losing the tag titles and causing Candice LeRae to suffer a painful bruise on her hip in the TLC match.
The two teams exchanged heated words, and GM Nick Aldis intervened, vowing to get the tag division under control, starting with a match between the two teams for this week.
Additionally, Drew McIntyre will address attacking Cody Rhodes during the final moments of last week’s show, where he Claymored the Champion through the announce desk. The segment will likely further the feud, and fans can expect an appearance from Cody, which will likely lead to another brawl.
One-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alexa Bliss, is set to battle Secret Hervice’s Piper Niven on this week’s show.
This follows last week’s events, when Alexa Bliss’ tag partner Charlotte Flair handed Chelsea Green a humiliating defeat, aided by Bliss herself. Bliss took out Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, who attempted to interfere in the match.
