The bond between Senpai & Kōhai has fractured.

Former WWE Women’s World Champions Asuka and Iyo Sky have become major names in pro wrestling. While their relationship began as Senpai and Kōhai, rooted in mentorship and mutual respect, it has now evolved into a bitter rivalry marked by betrayal and growing disrespect.

Asuka joined WWE in 2015, while Iyo signed with WWE in 2017. The two first teamed up in WWE in 2023 as part of the Damage CTRL faction. In the summer of 2024, Asuka was sidelined due to a knee injury, which kept her out of action until June 2025.

Asuka reunited with Kairi Sane to resurrect the Kabuki Warriors tag team. On the other hand, Iyo went on to deliver incredible performances, even capturing the Women’s World title and delivering iconic performances at WrestleMania 41 and Evolution 2.

During this time, Sky slowly started to grow closer to Rhea Ripley, her former rival, something which Asuka didn’t approve of, eventually turning on Iyo and ordering Kairi to attack the two. Sky then formed a tag team with Ripley, dubbed ‘RHIYO.’

This only made things worse as the two tag teams went on to feud, which ended in RHIYO’s defeating the Kabuki Warriors to capture the Women’s Tag Team titles. Around WrestleMania 42, in Ripley’s absence on Raw, Asuka and Sane started targeting Iyo.

A potential clash at Mania was anticipated; however, it never materialized, and Sane was released from WWE in the meantime. The feud continued after Mania and the two former mentor and mentee are now set to collide at the 2026 edition of Backlash.
