The Legendary Empress wants to teach Iyo Sky a lesson.
‘The Legendary Empress’ Asuka turned on Iyo Sky, irked by her closeness towards Rhea Ripley, and feeling disrespected, she, along with Kairi Sane, attacked the two. Originally speculated for WrestleMania 42, the match is now announced for Backlash, albeit without the presence of Kairi Sane.
The two former tag partners and stablemates will now settle the score at the 2026 edition of Backlash on May 9 in Tampa, Florida. Asuka made her Backlash debut during the 2020 edition, where she defended the WWE Women’s title against Nia Jax. The match ended in a double count-out with The Legendary Empress retaining the title as a result.
She then competed in a triple-threat match for the Women’s title against Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair. In 2024, she, along with her Kabuki Warriors tag partner Kairi Sane, failed to retain the Women’s Tag Team titles, dropping them to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.
Notably, Asuka is yet to register a win at the PLE, and now she takes on Iyo Sky at the Benchmark Arena in Tampa, Florida, on May 9.
