Chris Jericho could be leaving AEW very soon!
Chris Jericho’s name is once again echoing across the wrestling world. After more than five years away from WWE, new reports suggest that the former WWE Champion could be heading back to where it all began.
While Jericho remains under contract with AEW, backstage whispers and subtle clues have ignited speculation that Le Champion might soon make one last WWE run before hanging up his boots.
Chris Jericho is believed to be WWE-bound
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, several people within WWE are reportedly confident that Chris Jericho will return to the company once his AEW contract expires.
“People in WWE believe that he’s coming to WWE, for what that’s worth… we’ll see. It’s up to him,” Meltzer said.
Chris Jericho’s AEW deal is set to expire in December 2025, and recent signs suggest he may already be preparing for the next phase of his career. The seven-time world champion hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since The Learning Tree storyline ended abruptly in April.
Furthermore, his upcoming Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea VII, set for November 2026, notably features no AEW branding or talent, something that has not gone unnoticed by fans and insiders alike.
This move, coupled with reports that Tony Khan may not be actively pushing to extend his deal, has only fueled the belief that Jericho’s next destination will be back under the WWE banner.
Chris Jericho remains tight-lipped on his future

Despite the mounting rumors, Jericho himself has chosen to remain silent. During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the veteran reflected on his career highlights, his WWE debut, “a little bit of the bubbly,” the Festival of Friendship, and the Dinner Debonair, but intentionally left the fifth moment on his list blank.
“That’s the way I always think of it,” Jericho said. “‘What’s your favorite moment of your career?’ Current, now. If I didn’t think it was the best, then why am I doing it? We leave the space blank, and we’ll see what happens.”
When asked directly about what’s next, Jericho simply replied, “We don’t know, right? We’ll just have to see.”
At 54 years old, Chris Jericho is in the twilight of his legendary career, but his in-ring work and charisma remain strong. If the rumors prove true, a surprise return at the 2026 Royal Rumble could be the perfect stage for the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla to make his grand WWE comeback, one final encore before closing a chapter that began 25 years ago.
Is Chris Jericho leaving AEW for WWE?
As of now, Jericho’s AEW contract expires in December 2025. Reports suggest people within WWE expect his return, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Why is Jericho’s 2026 cruise event fueling WWE rumors?
His upcoming Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea VII doesn’t feature AEW wrestlers or branding, sparking speculation that his ties with AEW are ending.
