Becky Lynch & AJ Lee are in a heated feud currently.
One of WWE’s most anticipated women’s rivalries appears far from finished. Although Becky Lynch and AJ Lee are now set to clash at Elimination Chamber, reports indicate their program is still building toward a major showdown at WrestleMania 42.
On the February 9 episode of WWE Raw, it was officially announced that Becky Lynch will defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against AJ Lee at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 28.
The bout was made following Lee’s surprise return, where she verbally prodded the champion into accepting the challenge before being attacked by Lynch later.
WWE Elimination Chamber match booked, but the story continues
Despite the title match now happening earlier than expected, the long-term direction reportedly remains unchanged. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that WWE’s creative plans still point toward WrestleMania.
“They had their story to set up the thing. I was expecting this match at Mania,” Meltzer said. “But I was told, you know, that there’s a reason it’s here, and the story goes till Mania. So it all plays out… ‘Don’t worry, it all plays out to get there.’”
That reassurance comes amid reports that WWE recently adjusted several WrestleMania 42 plans due to concerns over ticket sales. Even so, the Lynch–Lee rivalry is said to be one program that remains firmly on track.

WWE Raw opened in Cleveland with Lynch heading to the ring, only to be interrupted by Lee, who appeared alongside CM Punk. The exchange escalated quickly, with Lynch calling Lee a “little chihuahua,” while Lee fired back by reminding Becky she already owns victories over her at WarGames and WrestlePalooza.
AJ initially claimed she was there to support Maxxine Dupri, but the conversation soon turned personal.Lee referenced costing Lynch the title at Madison Square Garden, prompting Becky to ask what it would take to finally get rid of her.
That moment sealed the match. Lynch offered a bout at Elimination Chamber, and AJ skillfully convinced her to make it a title defense.
The stakes are undeniable. Lynch is a record-setting two-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion, while Lee carries momentum from a previous submission win over Becky. With Elimination Chamber taking place in Chicago, a city closely tied to Lee, the atmosphere figures to be combustible.
Still, all signs suggest this is only one chapter, with WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas looming as the ultimate destination.
