Bret Hart is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time!
Bret “The Hitman” Hart is one of the legendary technical wrestlers WWE has witnessed. He had his WWF (now WWE) debut in 1985 and has been a game-changer for the company. When WWE was in major danger by its competitors during the ’90s, Hart carried the company single-handedly on his shoulder and made the company overcome threats.
Hart has a great legacy in the industry and is one of the legends in the business. He retired from in-ring competition in 2011 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice.
Bret Hart however had several appearances in WWE despite retirement. As WWE Raw hosts the Season Premiere in Canada, the Canadian pride Bret Hart is announced to appear on the show. As Hart is making his return, here we take a look at the top five best returns of Hart in WWE.
5. Help Jerry Lawler Over The Limit (2011)
At Over the Limit 2011, Bret Hart made his return during the Kiss My Foot match between Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole. Hart came to save his longtime rival Jerry Lawler, by applying the Sharpshooter on Cole and forcing Cole to lick Lawler’s foot with the barbecue sauce.
4. Survivor Series 1996
Over the summer of 1996, Stone Cold Steve Austin was taunting Bret Hart, who was on a long hiatus and challenged him for a #1 Contenders match for the WWF Championship. At Survivor Series, Hart made his return and went on to defeat Austin to become the rightful challenger for the WWF title.
3. Return at Montreal 2012
On the September 10, 2012, episode of WWE Raw, Bret Hart made his first appearance in a WWE ring in Montreal, Canada after the Montreal Screwjob. Hart addressed what happened years ago, however, got interfered with by CM Punk.
Punk mocked Hart about the Screwjob and blamed Hart he is a liar and nobody believes in him. He said that he is overrated like Cena. Bret Hart countered his claim and the confrontation heated nose to nose. Later the same night, Hart also interviewed Cena and the tease continued with the interrupting Punk.
2. Join Team WWE (2010)
On the August 19, 2010 episode of WWE Raw, John Cena had one man short in his team to face Team Nexus at SummerSlam 2010. Cena assembled Team WWE in front of The Nexus and surprisingly introduced the final member of Team WWE, which is none other than Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart. Hart made his return after being fired by Vince McMahon as the Raw General Manager as a wrestler and they went on to make Nexus retreat.
1. Confronting Shawn Michaels (2010)
The Hitman made his first WWE appearance in 12 years since leaving the company in 1997 after the Montreal Screwjob. Hart said that he wanted to take the things out of his chest, which has been inside for over 12 years and called out Shawn Michaels to come face to face. Both Michaels and Hart had a face-off and said that he came to bury the hatchet between them.
Michaels said that Hart deserved what happened in Montreal 12 years ago. Michaels said that he too has a big part of that, that he won’t regret. Hart compromised with Michaels and offered his hand for a handshake, but Shawn Michaels teased of ignoring and then they hugged in the middle of the ring to end 12 years 12-year-long rivalry.
