Chicago is one of the most important cities for WWE and has been the origin for some WWE Superstars
WWE is the official destination for some of the best superstars from all over the world and throughout the United States. The company hosts their weekly shows all over the country and they hold great legacy wherever they step in, and develop a number of talents there.
One such iconic destination is the ‘Second City’ in Chicago, Illinois. Here we take a look at five of the Chicago-born WWE Superstars of all time.
5. Mustafa Ali
Mustafa Ali was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 28, 1986, to an Indo-Pakistan couple. He worked for WWE from 2016 to 2023 and is one of the highly talented high-flying wrestlers of the company. He has competed in a number of big matches and achieved major fame in the WWE Universe.
4. Kalisto
Kalisto was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 14, 1986, in a second-generation Mexican-American family. The Masked Luchador was in WWE from 2013 to 2021 and achieved high popularity and success in the company. He is a four-time champion in WWE, who held the NXT Tag Team Championship once, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship once and the WWE United States Championship twice. He was also a member of the Lucha House Party with fellow Luchador wrestlers.
3. Montez Ford
Montez Ford was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 31, 1990. He has been in WWE since 2016 and competes in the tag team division with Angelo Dawkins, under the name Street Profits. Ford is one of the most extremely talented WWE Superstars, who is known for his highly athletic in-ring action and charismatic microphone skills. He is a three-time tag team champion in the company with Dawkins and they are the second WWE Tag Team Triple Crown Champions in the company.
2. Legion of Doom
The Legion of Doom or The Road Warriors is a professional wrestling tag team consisting of Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal. The popular tag team is from Chicago, Illinois and worked for WWE from 1997 to 2003. They are two-time WWE Tag Team Champions and are WWE Hall of Famers.
1. CM Punk
CM Punk is the most popular Canadian-born WWE Superstar of all time. He is often referred to as The Second City Saint. Punk was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 26, 1978. He has been in WWE from 2004 to 2014 and is on his second run since 2023. He is one of the few stars from Chicago to achieve major accomplishments in WWE. He is an eight-time champion in WWE, including five world championships. He is the idol of the Chicago-born wrestlers and has been the most celebrated Chicago-born wrestler of all time
