Multiple storylines will conclude at SummerSlam next month.

SummerSlam 2026 will mark a major turning point for WWE, with potential championship changes, shocking returns, and several rivalries reaching new heights, likely extending to later PLEs or even until WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.

However, there are current ongoing or likely forgotten storylines that the promotion should either take to a proper conclusion or drop altogether and allow the superstars involved to move on to fresh opportunities. Here are four such storylines that should be wrapped up after SummerSlam.

4. The plank

A storyline that began with Tommaso Ciampa’s departure saw Johnny Gargano fall into a depression, spending his time in a plank position while his wife, Candice LeRae, tried to lift his spirits.

However, the angle has since gone nowhere, with neither Gargano nor LeRae receiving any meaningful follow-up despite both being exceptionally talented in-ring performers. The storyline has itself become a prop and backdrop of the show, with zero developments, fans have lost all interest, and the promotion should opt to conclude it and feature the two in more prominent roles as SmackDown struggles with ratings.

3. The ‘rift’ in Judgment Day

The Judgment Day, which currently consists of Liv Morgan, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Roxanne Perez & Raquel Rodriguez, has been a long fixture on Monday Night Raw and has seen countless storylines. One of the most common ones involving a faction is always visible tension and arguments.

WWE has applied the same to the Judgment Day as well; however, these have now been utilized a lot repeatedly and only for shock value, which gets fans talking, not actual storyline development.

While they may generate short-term buzz, relying on them too frequently risks making the angles feel predictable and diminishing their overall impact. The angle between Morgan and Perez, which now seems to be forgotten, has exactly the same traits.

2. Do you see the Vision?

According to a new report, WWE are themselves conflicted on what do with the Vision faction. There are some who believe that the faction should continue but only if the group undergoes a significant revamp, including potential changes to its lineup.

Others, however, feel the faction has reached the end of its run and that it’s time to let its members move on in different directions. While injuries have plagued their momentum, finishing up the storyline and giving someone like, Bron Breakker a singles push especially as report suggest his pairing with Paul Heyman will remain intact even if the faction splits is a better way to build him as a star post-SummerSlam.

1. The Bloodline vortex

It has been well established that LA Knight is not going to get a proper push in WWE. However, what’s worse is that he is back to feuding with the Bloodline, doing the same matches and somewhat the same angles. Even then, he is not feuding with Roman Reigns; in fact, Reigns hasn’t even had a face-off with Knight, who is busy fighting the Usos and maybe sometimes Jacob Fatu.

Similarly, Solo Sikoa is either cosplaying Roman or feuding with Reigns’ Bloodline. The promotion should at least book Knight in a feud directly with Reigns, and finish this storyline. A face turn for Solo who has R-Truth and Danhausen-level comic timing, would do wonders for him, instead of feuding with the Bloodline only to likely to lose to Reigns once again.

When and where will SummerSlam 2026 take place?

The 39th edition will air as a two-night spectacle on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

What matches have been announced for the show?

• Liv Morgan (c) vs Iyo Sky – Women’s World title match• Oba Femi vs Brock Lesnar – Hell in a Cell match• Roman Reigns (c) vs Seth Rollins – World Heavyweight title match
