The WWE Hall of Famer went ballistic!
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has never shied away from speaking candidly about the legends of his era, the dream matches that slipped through his fingers, and the rivals who shaped his career. During a recent Q&A on the Johnny I Pro Show, Hart opened up on a long list of names he wishes he had faced and made a striking proclamation about who he believes may truly be the greatest wrestler of all time.
Bret Hart worked some of the biggest stars the industry has ever produced, but even he carried a list of opponents he never had the chance to share the ring with. When asked which wrestlers from his era he wanted to face, he didn’t hesitate.
“Kurt Angle would be one,” he said.
“I mean, there’s a lot of guys. Kurt Angle would be one of the first ones that comes to mind. Yeah, I mean, I’d like to have wrestled Lance Storm. Jericho, I’d like to wrestled.”
As fans shouted names from the audience, someone mentioned Dean Malenko. Hart paused and delivered a blunt, vintage Hitman response: “Let’s leave Dean Malenko at home.”
Bret Hart calls Rey Mysterio “maybe the greatest wrestler of all time”

Among all the names he discussed, no praise was higher than what Hart reserved for Rey Mysterio. The legendary masked icon clearly left a deep impression on the Hitman, who grew up admiring masked performers such as Mil Mascaras, even if he didn’t think highly of Mascaras as a worker or a person.
“You know, the truth is is I was a guy, I loved as a kid, my passion in wrestling started from, I loved mask wrestlers,” Hart said.
“My favorite, I loved anyone with a mask. And Mil Mascaras was one of my favorites as a kid. And unfortunately, he was a really horrible wrestler and a horrible human being. But didn’t stop me from liking masked wrestlers.”
That admiration led to his deep appreciation for Mysterio.
“And when I met Rey Mysterio, I still say this. Rey Mysterio is one of the greatest wrestlers, maybe the greatest wrestler of all time. There’s nobody could lace Rey Mysterio’s shoes up. He was such a great wrestler, and a great athlete and a great, like he was just so good and such a smart wrestler and so amazing…”
Hart added that he would have needed to be much younger to deliver the dream match he envisioned with Mysterio.
“I’d have to be a little younger than I am now,” he said. “But maybe when I was in my early 20s or maybe late 20s, I would love to have wrestled Rey Mysterio when I was young and could do all that kind of stuff. By the time I was in WCW, it might have been hard for me to do the kind of match I would love to do with Rey Mysterio.”
Bret Hart takes a dig at Goldberg, says he’d have loved to wrestle Brock Lesnar

The conversation also turned toward career “what-ifs,” including who else Hart would have liked to share the ring with. One of the biggest names on that list: Brock Lesnar.
Hart revealed he would have welcomed the chance to work with The Beast Incarnate, adding an unmistakable jab at the man he still blames for his career-ending concussion. He said he heard that Lesnar is “a professional,” noting the contrast with Goldberg.
Hart’s issues with Goldberg have been well documented, stemming from their match in WCW that led to the concussion, which ultimately ended his in-ring career. He has spoken openly for years about the incident and continued to do so here.
He also reflected on leaving WWE after the Montreal Screwjob in 1997, believing that had things not fallen apart, a match with John Cena could have been a reality. The Hart–Cena matchup remains one of wrestling’s great unrealized possibilities.
Bret Hart makes explosive claim about Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon

In one of the most shocking moments of the interview, Hart made an explosive claim about Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon. The Hitman bluntly stated that he believed the two were lovers and that their relationship played a role in how he felt he was treated during his final days in WWE.
“I’m just being honest and blunt. I suspect and am serious. I think that Shawn and Vince were sleeping with each other. I’m just telling you. I think I’m very close to the truth here. Shawn and Vince were lovers. I’m being dead honest. And I’m telling you,” Hart said.
He went even further, saying he felt caught “between two lovers” during that turbulent period.
“They and I, just when I look back, it’s like I got caught between two lovers, you know? And I got shafted and scre*ed over. And Shawn was so envious and jealous of my position that he finally had to sleep with Vince to get it. I would say all of this to Shawn if he were here.”
