CM Punk reflects on his time in AEW

WWE icon, CM Punk has recently made an appearance on the 2024 edition of ComplexCon which was held in Las Vegas, U.S.A. The Second City Saint was rocking a new look during his appearance.

The 2024 ComplexCon was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event took place over two days: Saturday, November 16, 2024, and Sunday, November 17, 2024.

During his appearance at the ComplexCon in Las Vegas, The Second City Saint met with fans, gave out free merchandise, and posed for pictures, showcasing his new look.

Punk also gave an interview to Cheap Heat’s Peter Rosenberg during his appearance. During the interview, Rosenberg asked the former multi-time WWE champion if there was anyone he would have liked to but didn’t get a chance to work with during his stint in AEW.

The Second City Saint had a short stint of two years in the All Elite Wrestling from 2021 to 2023. Punk made his surprising return back to the WWE during Survivor Series 2023.

CM Punk believes AJ Lee’s WWE return would be even bigger than his

The Second City Saint was very critical of his AEW stint stating, “No. I feel like I wasted some matches on some people, for sure. That is what it is. Some people understand the business and some people don’t. I think everybody here understands the business.”

During the conversation with Peter Rosenberg, Punk also reflected on the year he has had since coming back to the Stamford-based promotion.

“Aside from the whole triceps injury and surgery, we really turned chicken sh** into chicken salad with that one. Almost a little bit of a gift. I think people forget that I was hurt because I was such a focal point, just doing what we do, entertaining people. I don’t want to grade myself, I leave that to the fans and my peers, and the people I work for. They can go ahead and grade it. I’ve had the time of my life, though, coming back. I weigh this past year up against any year of my entire career.”

As expected the former multi-time champion was asked about his wife, AJ Lee’s return to the WWE. Lee left the Stamford-based promotion in 2015 due to back issues. Since Punk’s return fans have been constantly demanding Lee’s return.

“She 100% supersedes me. That’s the fun thing about wrestling fans. They look for stuff that necessarily isn’t there. That’s kind of the fun of it. Everyone is talking about, ‘Who is going to main event WrestleMania?’ ‘Who is going to enter the Royal Rumble?’ ‘Who is going to comeback?’ They are always looking around this time of year for big returns. I had mine last year, I think hers would be bigger than mine, but again, I’m kinda hands off on the deal…

It’s a workload thing for her. She’s very, very busy. I’m not trying to not talk about it, but I’m also trying to temper people’s expectations. If she wraps up some stuff that she’s working on and she has the time, and she feels like dipping her toe back in or jumping back in the pool, she’ll let us know.”

The Second City Saint believes that the return of AJ Lee would be even bigger than his own electrifying return at the 2023 Survivor Series. The 2023 edition took place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois.
