“The Second City Saint” CM Punk made his highly anticipated return after almost a decade at the Survivor Series 2023 PLE which took place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Allstate Arena in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The Second City Saint’s return to the WWE in his hometown is considered “one of the loudest pops of all time” as the fans finally got their wish of him making his return to the Stamford-based promotion.

After making his return, Punk wrestled his first televised WWE match since 2014 on January 27, 2024, at the Royal Rumble PLE. Punk entered at number 27 during the men’s Rumble match, in which he was the runner-up after being eliminated by Cody Rhodes.

During the match, Punk tore his right triceps which forced him out of action as he missed the 40th edition of WrestleMania. Since making his return after injury, Punk was involved in one of the best feuds of 2024 alongside Drew McIntyre, with the two stars delivering jaw-dropping clashes.

The Second City Saint has made it clear multiple times that he is still hell bent on headlining the grandest stage, WrestleMania. Punk realized his dream of main eventing Mania as he battled Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in a triple-threat match in the main event of the 41st edition.

Punk was the final man to make the walk as Living Colours performed his entrance, this was not just his first main event but his return at the ‘Grandest Stage’ after twelve years.

CM Punk’s WrestleMania record

The Second City Saint has partaken in a total of seven matches at the grandest stage. However, three of them were Money In The Bank Ladder matches, two of which he won. Punk has competed four times in singles action, one of which was when he defended the WWE Heavyweight Title.

CM Punk’s title defense against Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XXVIII is the only Mania win (singles) of his WWE career. Additionally, the 23rd edition of the Mania PLE was the first WrestleMania of his career.
