“The Second City Saint” is currently feuding with Drew McIntyre
CM Punk is confirmed to be part of every Monday Night RAW taking up to Bash in Berlin 2024. Drew McIntyre’s year-long battle with CM Punk has been one of WWE’s most intense rivalries. Their mutual hostility behind the scenes has been exploited to personalize their characters’ interactions. However, McIntyre has lately spoken out about one particular segment with Punk that he believes may have gone too far on television.
For now, WWE hasn’t confirmed their match at Bash in Berlin but for sure we will witness both McIntyre and Punk to be fighting at the PLE.
Drew McIntyre “made the choice” taking on CM Punk
During a chat on “Notsam Wrestling,” McIntyre stated, “I’ve never, for one second, questioned anything I’ve said…” He did, however, refer to his promotion with Punk in Chicago. Punk addressed McIntyre’s prior gimmick and said, “Who chose you?” referring to his selection as former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s next chosen star.
“He said the one line during the one promo about the chosen one and so I had to make a decision in the moment; do I come back with something and potentially have a negative effect on the company, just what’s going on right now in the public eye or do I take it elsewhere and Chicago, it’s a babyface, it’s the right business decision, so I made a choice in that moment not to say something … I made the choice to do the best thing for the company during that time.”
McIntyre also said that he had previously pushed things “a step further” with his iconic comment about hoping for Punk to be wounded, but had it reworked with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. “Between Triple H and I, we got it where we feel like we wouldn’t offend a lot of people. I had it a little further than that and Triple H dialed me back slightly and we landed there.”
