Cody Rhodes teases changing WWE Universal title design after WrestleMania 40
Cody Rhodes is one of the top baby-faces in WWE, who has been on a mission to complete his story. He is on the main-card of WrestleMania 40 and will main event both the nights. Cody will be facing the Rock & Roman Reigns by teaming up with Seth Rollins on Night 1. The following night he will be facing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. With just days away from the most important two nights, Cody showed up at WWE World and discussed his WrestleMania 40 match, the type of champion he wanted to be and his first thought of becoming a wrestler.
Cody Rhodes on changing the WWE Universal Title looks
Cody Rhodes at WWE World was asked about what kind of champion he will be, if he gets to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40. To which Cody said that he would be on both Raw & SmackDown and also teased about changing the title belt’s look.
Cody Rhodes said,
“I think the type of champion I’d be for starters, from a logistical standpoint, is I would be on both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown. I don’t know, you guys like how the title belt itself looks? Then maybe, again, don’t want to get a cart before a horse here, I have to beat the greatest champion in the history of our business, Roman Reigns. But if I do, maybe we change how that title looks, too.”
“Really, if I could do anything as champion, I would want you guys to have fun. That is 100% what I’m in the business of doing, making you guys happy, and I’m blessed and honored to do that. So that’s what I look forward to doing, and I hope we have a great weekend, all of us together.”
Cody Rhodes on when he wanted to Wrestle
Cody then was asked about at what age he had his thoughts that he wanted to wrestle. Cody said that when he was four, and recalled the Madison Square Garden incident, where his father won the WWWF Championship but was taken away moments later. This made him step into wrestling and win the title, which Roman has. He said that he would hand it to Dusty Rhodes and say, “now no nobody can take it from you”.
Cody Rhodes said,
“I knew, I’d say I knew at four. I’d say particularly at eight years old, when I saw the picture of him holding the WWWF Championship. He had just won the match against ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham, but he didn’t win in a way that he could take the title, and that was the big, ‘Hey, I wanna get this,’ the belt that ultimately Roman has now that we call the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.”
“Which, if I win this thing on Sunday, we are not calling it this long-winded designation. It’s just the WWE Championship. But I knew then because that was my first big dream and goal was to win it and hand it to him and tell him, ‘Nobody can take it away from you now.’ It’s moments and events like that.”
