The Rock is one of the most famous personalities in the world!

Cody Rhodes believes The Rock’s story in WWE is far from over. The Undisputed WWE Champion recently appeared on All The Smoke, where he was asked to name his personal Mount Rushmore of professional wrestlers.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Rhodes placed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson among the all-time greats and praised his latest WWE persona, The Final Boss, as something far deeper than fans may realize.

Cody Rhodes praises The Rock’s reinvention

Cody Rhodes explained that The Rock’s decision to return to WWE in 2024 and introduce The Final Boss persona was a bold reinvention for one of wrestling’s biggest legends.

“He came back to a very tumultuous WWE and said, ‘Nope, I’m not gonna deal with that. I’m gonna create something new,’” Rhodes said. “We’ve just scratched the surface on The Final Boss. There’s something incredibly special there.”

While The Rock’s star power has transcended generations, Cody Rhodes’ comments suggest that the Final Boss character could have deeper layers yet to be explored. It’s a persona that redefined The Rock’s role, not just as an icon returning for nostalgia’s sake, but as a larger-than-life villain with untapped storytelling potential.

The Rock’s absence and Hollywood commitments

The Rock hasn’t appeared on WWE television in months, but his influence continues to loom large. At the Venice Film Festival in September, he stunned fans with a dramatic 60-pound weight loss, revealing his preparation for an upcoming Martin Scorsese-directed project.

The untitled Hawaii-set crime epic, described as “The Departed meets Goodfellas”, will feature The Rock alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt.

Additionally, Johnson recently wrapped filming on The Smashing Machine, a biopic about MMA legend Mark Kerr. Between his acting commitments and production duties, sources suggest that The Rock’s WWE return isn’t imminent. Still, Cody Rhodes’ comments hint that The Final Boss chapter remains unfinished, perhaps waiting for the perfect moment to strike again.

What is The Rock’s ‘Final Boss’ gimmick in WWE?

The “Final Boss” is The Rock’s 2024 heel persona, a darker, more calculated version of his character representing ultimate dominance in WWE storytelling.

Why is The Rock currently away from WWE?

The Rock is focused on major Hollywood projects, including a Martin Scorsese film and The Smashing Machine, but remains linked to WWE storylines through The Final Boss narrative.
