Cody Rhodes names two matches The Rock must have in WWE

Cody Rhodes is all set to face John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41
Cody Rhodes has never been one to shy away from big moments or big opponents, and when it comes to The Rock, he believes there’s still unfinished business inside a WWE ring.
In a recent appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, Cody Rhodes opened up about his loss at WrestleMania 40, where he and Seth Rollins fell to the team of Roman Reigns and The Rock in a blockbuster tag team main event. For The Rock, it was his first standard wrestling match in over a decade — a rare return to the squared circle that shook the WWE Universe.
Now, with WrestleMania 41 on the horizon and The Rock surprisingly absent from the official match card, Cody Rhodes has made his stance clear: The Rock needs to lace up his boots at least two more times, and Rhodes wants to be a part of that legacy.
“He did [pin me last year]. I’m a bit of an ego-centric individual that wants his win back. I think he’s due for more than one match and I would love to be penciled in on one of those,” Rhodes said. “Even though we may not like one another, the thing I do like about him is instantly, no matter what he’s done… when you look at him you can tell — oh, brother is a wrestler. It’s in there.”
Rhodes acknowledged The Rock’s continued involvement with WWE, crediting him for not just playing a ceremonial role as “The Final Boss,” but for truly immersing himself in the ongoing product.
“He could have easily been The Final Boss and just kind of taken that as a customary title, but he has really gotten his hands involved in what we’re doing.”
As for the two matches, The Rock still needs to have? Cody didn’t mince words.
“I think he has two matches he has to do. I’m not putting any pressure on anyone, but I think he does — I’d love to see him and his cousin, Roman Reigns ever have this encounter. Maybe it’s the greatest match we never get because timing or whatever it may be and I think we need to finish our own story with him and myself. We’ll see.”
The dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns has long been speculated, but never realized. With their real-life family ties and immense star power, it’s a bout that could go down as one of the biggest in wrestling history.
Meanwhile, Rhodes also has his eyes on redemption. Having been pinned by The Rock in a high-profile setting, he wants a singles match to settle the score and truly finish the story he’s been building for years.
Rhodes has also been entangled in a heated feud with another WWE legend, John Cena. On a recent episode of WWE Raw, Rhodes shocked fans by calling Cena a “piece of s**t” before delivering a Cross Rhodes to the 16-time world champion, closing their segment with intensity and leaving fans wondering what’s next.
