Cody Rhodes addresses ‘potential betrayal’ from Kevin Owens at WWE Bash in Berlin 2024

Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE title set for Bash in Berlin 2024

Cody Rhodes has been having a dominant run with the Undisputed WWE Championship and has been defending it against the rightful contenders with due respect.

Owens played a major role in Cody’s title reign and helped him on several occasions. As a show of love, Cody gave Kevin Owens an Undisputed WWE Championship title shot at Bash in Berlin.

Owens hesitated the shot first, but he accepted after compulsion. As the match got confirmed, it kicked off a huge rumor that Kevin Owens could betray Cody Rhodes at Bash in Berlin, however, Cody has addressed the rumor and shuts the rumors.

Kevin Owens’s betrayal teased

On the August 23, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes appeared on the Grayson Waller Effect in the opening segment. During the interview, Waller and Theory questioned how Cody Rhodes trusts Kevin Owens as he has a history of betraying his friends. Waller also showcased a video package of Owens betraying Sami Zayn, John Cena, Chris Jericho and Kofi Kingston.

This made Cody shut for a moment and Owens popped out to explain that everyone knew that coming except Kofi Kingston and he apologized to him. Owens then called for a match teaming with Cody against Austin Theor & Grayson Waller in the main event and went to attack them, however he accidentally attacked Cody, but apologized soon.

In the main event of the evening, Cody & Kevin defeated Theory & Waller and forced them to retreat. However Kevin Owens had his hands on the Undisputed WWE Title and teased of attacking Cody, but when Cody sensed he gave the title to Cody and yelled Theory & Waller to end the show.

Cody Rhodes addresses Kevin Owens’ potential betrayal

Most of them thought that Owens could turn on Rhodes at Bash in Berlin in the greed to become the champion again, but Cody addressed the rumors, moments after SmackDown went off air. Cody said that everyone watching wrestling believes that they could call the betrayal, but he said that Owens is his friend on and off-camera. He believed that Owens wouldn’t turn on him.

Cody Rhodes said,

“Everyone who watches all this wrestling thinks they know how to call it. This is my friend, my actual friend. Not just an on-camera friend, an off-camera friend. We get to wrestle in Berlin. Those who haven’t seen the German fans are like, you’re gonna be blown away by Bash in Berlin. Kevin Owens is the man. He saved me.”
