Will Brock Lesnar return to spoil the party?
In the main event of Night of Champions 2026, Sami Zayn pulled off a major upset as he pinned Cody Rhodes in a triple threat match also involving Gunther to capture the Undisputed title. This marked his first World title in WWE, something he achieved on his tenth attempt.
A massive fan-favorite in Saudi Arabia, Zayn was showered with love from fans in Riyadh. Fans online also celebrated the win and the fact that a win for a massive underdog is still possible. The return of unpredictability to the WWE made many fans laud the result.
Pundits and even many fellow WWE stars reacted to Zayn’s title win as the outcome has transformed the SmackDown brand with many new potential feuds and possible rematches. Amid the celebration, crazy fan theories and rumors have started circulating, predicting how Sami’s title reign will unfold leading into SummerSlam.
Fans predict Brock Lesnar to spoil the party

Among the prevailing theories is Brock Lesnar returning to WWE programming to challenge Sami Zayn at the July 18 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will emanate from the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.
Lesnar has been absent from WWE programming since Clash in Italy, where he defeated Oba Femi in a WrestleMania rematch to tie the head-to-head record at 1-1. The title showdown at SNME makes sense as a big name like Brock could help sell tickets at MSG.
On the other hand, a title win would set the stage for a rubber match with Femi as he is the 2026 King of the Ring and has the option to pick a Champion of his choosing at SummerSlam, and Femi might Lesnar if he wins. The third match between the two has been planned, per reports with Femi winning the third encounter.
Other theories predict that Gunther will challenge Lesnar for a career vs title match at SummerSlam, something which was the reported plan for SummerSlam before Mania. However, WWE decided to go in a different direction, with Lesnar even retiring at Mania before returning in May.
One thing these theories have in common is that Sami Zayn drops the title just weeks after finally capturing it. While the idea of Sami serving as a transitional champion isn’t far-fetched, especially since WWE has booked similar title reigns in the past, it would be a controversial decision.
After falling short in multiple championship opportunities over the years, Sami finally won the world title on his 10th attempt, making the victory feel like the culmination of a long journey. Having him lose the title almost immediately could undermine that accomplishment and risk hurting his momentum as a main-event star.
Notably, multiple earlier reports hinted at Lesnar retiring at SummerSlam, which will emanate from Minnesota, a city with deeper ties to Brock.
Triple H and the WWE might decide to reward Lesnar on his way out with another title, similar to what they did with John Cena winning the Intercontinental title to become a Grand Slam Champion before dropping the title to Dominik Mysterio in the rematch at Survivor Series.
What are your thoughts on these theories? Will Brock Lesnar return to spoil another title reign and set up the SummerSlam rematch, or will he face Gunther in a retirement match?
When and where will SummerSlam 2026 take place?
The 39th edition will air as a two-night spectacle on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Who won the 2026 King & Queen of the Ring tournament?
Oba Femi won the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, while Iyo Sky won the Queen of the Ring tournament.
