A lot of Championships may change hands next year

In WWE, championship reigns are often the ultimate sign of a Superstar’s success. However, not all champions are created equal, and the length of their title reigns can vary depending on their booking, status, and the storylines surrounding them.

While some champions are booked for lengthy title runs—like Gunther and Cody Rhodes, who both captured their titles in 2024 and are expected to hold onto them into the new year—others may not be so fortunate.

As WWE continues to evolve, we look at certain current champions who may find themselves dropping their titles sooner rather than later.

Here are four current WWE champions who could lose their titles before 2025:

4. The Judgment Day (JD McDonagh & Finn Balor)

JD McDonagh and Finn Balor, members of The Judgment Day faction, have held the WWE World Tag Team Championships for much of 2024, thanks in part to their cunning and outside interference, particularly from Liv Morgan.

Despite their dominance, the cracks in their reign are starting to show. While they’ve been formidable champions, constantly relying on the numbers game, their luck may soon run out.

The tag team division in WWE is competitive, and there are numerous challengers waiting in the wings. The New Day, with their historic standing in WWE, could easily topple McDonagh and Balor.

Additionally, Jey Uso and Damian Priest, both of whom have personal vendettas against The Judgment Day, are strong candidates to dethrone them.

There’s even potential for a multi-team match involving the LWO or the Creed Brothers, where the numbers game may work against the champions. While The Judgment Day may have walked into WrestleMania 40 with gold, it’s unlikely they’ll enter 2025 as champions.

3. Liv Morgan (Women’s World Champion)

Liv Morgan has done well as the current Women’s World Champion, but her reign seems to be on borrowed time.

Despite her progress over the last few years, Morgan is still viewed as being below top-tier talents like Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, and Rhea Ripley within the women’s division. Her victory over Ripley wasn’t a clean one, which has only added to the perception that she isn’t a dominant champion.

Morgan’s character has leaned heavily into cowardly heel tactics, often fleeing from danger and avoiding direct confrontations.

This type of booking, while effective for building heat, often signals an imminent title loss. Whether it’s Rhea Ripley seeking revenge, Tiffany Stratton cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase, or another rising star taking the spotlight, Liv Morgan’s days as Women’s World Champion may be numbered.

2. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions)

As the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are two of the most dominant forces on the roster. Their partnership allows them to appear across all three WWE brands, bringing a level of star power to the women’s tag team division. However, their overwhelming dominance is also their biggest flaw.

The issue with having two powerhouse Superstars holding the tag titles is that it makes their matches less suspenseful. Like John Cena before them, Belair and Cargill are often booked to overcome any odds, which takes away from the drama of their feuds.

With the women’s tag team titles already changing hands four times in 2024, WWE may look to shift the belts again before the year ends. This would free up Belair and Cargill to focus on singles competition, where they could bolster the main women’s divisions on RAW or SmackDown.

1. Nia Jax (SmackDown Women’s Champion)

Nia Jax made a huge comeback in 2024, winning the Queen of the Ring Tournament and capturing the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

This marked her first singles title reign in years and solidified her redemption arc since returning to WWE. Jax has vastly improved her in-ring work, and her reign has been a reward for her efforts. However, it feels like she’s simply keeping the title warm for another top contender.

Once Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill move on from the tag team division, they are likely to challenge Jax for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Their star power makes them strong candidates to dethrone her. Additionally, WWE may be waiting for the return of Charlotte Flair, who missed much of 2024 due to injury.

As impressive as Nia Jax’s resurgence has been, her reign as champion could be short-lived once the top names in the division turn their attention her way.
