The era of Damage CTRL is over after the recent high-profile exit.

Following their formation in July 2022 at WWE SummerSlam by Bayley alongside Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky, Damage CTRL saw multiple changes, including the addition of The Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka), and Bayley was also removed from the group.

The stable hit a big roadblock last year when Asuka, Sane, and Kai were out of action due to injury. However, according to Fightful Select, Damage CTRL was quietly disbanded in May, and announcers have been told not to refer to them as a faction anymore.

This likely would have come following the release of Dakota Kai, who was part of a massive layoff that saw many fan favorite stars announce their departure from the promotion.

John Cena’s title reign in jeopardy

After pinning Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, John Cena created history as he won the Undisputed title to break the tie with Ric Flair and become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion. He is now set to defend the title for the second time against CM Punk at Night of Champions in Riyadh on June 28.

However, according to Jim Cornette, Punk will likely not be able to defeat the Undisputed Champion. Cornette believes that ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes will be the one to pin the Champion and capture the title once again.

“I think Cody has to be the one to win it back eventually, or else, boy, I think that did do damage. Right now, you know there’s still a chance to straighten this out” – Jim said.

Rhodes has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the King of the Ring tournament and has moved one step closer to challenging John Cena for the title. The winner of the tournament will be awarded a title shot at SummerSlam 2025.

Naomi to become World Champion

Naomi outlasted the competition and managed to grab the briefcase in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match at the namesake PLE on June 7 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. After becoming the 2025 Miss Money in the Bank, Naomi has put the Champions on notice.

American actor Freddie Prinze Jr believes that Naomi will become a world champion, and the promotion will then likely unravel the storyline between her and Bianca Belair, once Belair is injury-free. Freddie stated on the My Cultura Podcast Network that Naomi will likely cash in the briefcase soon.

“Naomi is going to be a World Champion. It’ll be just in time, probably for Bianca Belair to come after her a** and once her hand gets better. I don’t know how quickly they are going to do it but feels like they have gone real long on these Money In The Bank runs… I think this is gonna be a quick one. I think she is going cash-in much much sooner than later.” – Freddie said.

Tiffany Stratton is the current WWE Women’s Champion and performs on SmackDown alongside Naomi, while Iyo Sky holds the Women’s World title.
