The Night of Champions 2025 emanates from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia!

WWE’s trip to Saudi Arabia saw them deliver two back-to-back banger shows of SmackDown and the 11th edition of Night of Champions, both of which emanated from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The show featured multiple exciting matches, which kept the Riyadh crowd on their feet, erupting in excitement for near pinfalls and jaw-dropping moves. Two titles were defended on the show, along with the finals of the King and Queen of the ring, a street fight, and a singles match.

What Happened?

Karrion Kross and Sami Zayn engaged in a singles match at the PLE. The match was made official following their heated backstage segment on 06/23 Raw, where Zayn, having had enough of Kross’ mind games, attacked him, but it all turned out to be a ruse by Kross.

The two stars locked horns in the third match of the show. Scarlett was ringside, keeping a close eye on the action. The fans as expected, cheered for Zayn, who had the Palestinian flag featured in his gear. However, they also cheered for Kross, who was participating in his first PLE match since WrestleMania 40 and his first singles PLE match since Crown Jewel 2022.

Kross also proved his critics wrong, delivering a great match with Zayn, even taking flat back bumps, something which many critics accused him of not doing. However, Zayn was able to fight back and land the helluva kick, pinning Kross to win the match.

Fans were very vocal about the fact and voiced their opinion on Kross losing the match, the same can be seen on X (Twitter) and even on the highlights video of the match WWE uploaded on their YouTube channel. As of writing this article, the video has 6.1k likes and 7.9k dislikes, which is not a lot compared to recent fan outrage, but this is likely due to Zayn being in good graces with fans.

The Bigger Picture

Others are also hopeful that this is just the beginning of Kross getting good matches, storylines, and opportunities. The PLE booking came after a massive uproar and support online by fans who urged the WWE to push Kross.

Kross has shone in the few backstage segments he has been featured in over the past six months and has now proved his critics wrong in the match against Zayn. Further opportunities on Raw will only help him become more of a household name than he already is, and WWE should listen to the fans and put Kross in a good and engaging storyline.
