Jey Uso lost his WWE IC Title to Bron Breakker
In a dramatic turn of events, Jey Uso has lost his Intercontinental Championship to Bron Breakker, owing to interferences from Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline. This development has cost Tama and Tanga their WWE tag team championships and reunited Jey with his brother Jimmy Uso in their fight against the new Bloodline. Now, it’s been made official that the original Bloodline, consisting of Roman Reigns and the Usos, will take on Solo Sikoa’s faction at Crown Jewel 2024.
There are a lot of possibilities to consider when WWE is trying to figure out what to do next with Jey Uso. He needed to reunite with Jimmy for the sake of the storyline, but at the same time, he is one of the biggest single stars in the company right now. So, turning him into a tag team once again might not be beneficial for him or WWE in the long term.
At the same time, a match between Jey Uso and Jacob Fatu or Solo Sikoa is a marquee WrestleMania-worthy singles match, but then what will Jimmy do at WrestleMania given all of his talents? This storyline is likely to play out until WrestleMania, and at least until then, we are probably going to see the Usos as a tag team.
Nevertheless, let us look at five different directions WWE can plan for Jey Uso after he lost his first singles championship:
Reunite with Jimmy Uso as a Tag Team Temporarily and Win Tag Team Gold Again
A part of this storyline has already played out, as Jey Uso has reunited with Jimmy on Raw, and they are set to be on Roman’s side in this civil war. The Usos will likely team up until WrestleMania 41 at the very least. It all starts at Crown Jewel, where the Usos and Roman Reigns will battle against the new Bloodline.
Following that, we will witness the Bloodline Civil War play out inside Survivor Series War Games, which will definitely feature the Usos as a tag team together. Most likely, after that, we will see Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu get into a rivalry with the Usos, while Roman Reigns shifts his focus to the WWE Undisputed Championship.
They may also capture tag team gold heading into WrestleMania from the likes of the newly crowned champions, the Motor City Machine Guns, only to defend it against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 41.
He Can Demand a Rematch for the Intercontinental Championship
Given that Jey Uso is competing on both brands these days and the Bloodline story has essentially been integrated into both brands, Jey Uso might plan to reclaim his title by invoking his rematch clause against the champion Bron Breakker.
However, don’t expect him to win back the title, as Breakker is likely to enjoy a longer reign after hot potato the championship for a while now. Jey winning the championship was primarily to further the Bloodline story, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to win it back now.
He Can Convince Sami Zayn to Rejoin the Original Bloodline
We witnessed a segment on Raw where Sami Zayn questioned Jey Uso and his reasons for rejoining forces with his brother and Roman Reigns. Jey believed that he was on the side of the lesser evil, but Sami urged him not to choose any sides. Jey told Sami that he probably wouldn’t understand what Jey was going through since he wasn’t family.
We also saw a segment with Jimmy eavesdropping on Sami conversing with Solo. While WWE might attempt to prolong this story by making it seem that Sami might consider teaming up with Solo, that outcome is unlikely. In fact, Jey Uso might play a pivotal role in this narrative as he is the one Sami considers a brother. If Sami does team up with Roman Reigns and joins the Original Bloodline, it will only be to help Jey.
He Can Get Into a Rivalry with Jacob Fatu
Jacob Fatu is the reason Jey Uso lost the Intercontinental Championship in the first place. Jey has also mentioned that he is unsettled by the way Fatu looks at him and will “knock his ass out” if Fatu continues to stare at him. Losing his first singles championship gives Jey all the more reason to pursue this rivalry.
If WWE is planning to keep pushing Jey as a singles star, this could be his next rivalry. However, don’t expect any clear-cut winners in a rivalry like this, as WWE will need to protect the credibility of both men involved, given that one is the biggest star in the company right now while the other is destined for greatness.
He Can Face Solo Sikoa at WrestleMania
The dream scenario would have been a triple-threat sibling war among Jimmy, Jey, and Solo at WrestleMania 41, with Rikishi as the special guest referee. However, due to the current landscape of the Bloodline saga that booking can essentially be overruled.
If WWE is planning a singles match for Jey at Mania instead of teaming him up with his brother, Solo Sikoa is the next best option. Solo doesn’t have any apparent agenda for Mania, which makes Jey’s confrontation with him even more fitting. WWE can make this match more interesting by turning it into a no-holds-barred contest.
This would allow Jimmy and Jacob to get involved, as well as Sami and the Tonga brothers, heightening the drama’s value. All these elements can lead to a very entertaining match at WrestleMania 41, with Jey Uso ultimately prevailing in the end.
