President-Elect Donald Trump has appointed the former CEO and Co-founder Linda McMahon as U.S. Secretary of Education. McMahon has been hand-picked by the 47th president of the United States.
The former CEO of the Stamford-based promotion was initially considered for the Commerce Department. She is the co-founder of the WWE, which she co-founded alongside her husband and wrestling mogul Vince McMahon.
Linda has been married since 1966 to the WWE co-founder, Vince McMahon. On September 16, 2009, Linda McMahon stepped down from her role as CEO of WWE and left the company to pursue a Republican Senate seat in Connecticut.

Despite her exit, she continues to hold a minority ownership stake in WWE. Trump has historical ties with the McMahon family and he had very high praise for the future education secretary.
Linda McMahon held a cabinet position during Donald Trump’s first presidential term
As mentioned above, Linda held a cabinet position during Trump’s first presidential term. She was the administrator of the Small Business Administration from 2017 to 2019.
In 2019, she stepped down from her position at the SBA to take the helm of the pro-Trump political action committee America First Action. Additionally, she serves as the chair of the America First Policy Institute, a think tank that supports Trump-aligned policies.
In a statement, the President-Elect lauded McMahon’s job she has been doing as transition team co-chair. Trump also revealed that the education system needs major reforms in the U.S. and stated that McMahon will spearhead the campaign to bring education back to the states.
“As Secretary of Education, Linda will fight tirelessly to expand ‘Choice’ to every State in America, and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families. … We will send Education BACK TO THE STATES, and Linda will spearhead that effort.” Trump said.
McMahon was made transition team chair in August after the former administrator of the SBA donated $814,600 to Trump’s 2024 campaign.
Trump also has an immense love for combat sports and has hosted many WWE events in his hotels. He has also appeared in a storyline in 2007 alongside Vince McMahon.
Many WWE stars and legends have supported Trump during his presidential run this year. Trump defeated Democratic nominee Kamala Hariss to become the 47th president of the U.S.A.
