Drew McIntyre has been part of only a few yet compelling in-ring bouts over the years at SummerSlam.

SummerSlam 2020

Despite having a long tenure during his first run in WWE, Drew McIntyre did not have any in-ring bouts or involvement at SummerSlam until his release in 2014. Moreover, even after his return to WWE in 2017, it took him three more years to clinch a spot at SummerSlam, making his debut at the event as the WWE Champion. McIntyre squared off against The Viper Randy Orton in a highly explosive bout that took place during the pandemic era in the WWE Thunderdome. The match went back and forth until McIntyre hit the Claymore Kick and claimed the pinfall to retain his title.

SummerSlam 2021

Drew McIntyre went into WWE SummerSlam 2021 to go to war against his old 3MB cohort and real-life friend, Jinder Mahal. The rivalry began after McIntyre felt that Mahal cost him a chance to participate in the Money in the Bank ladder match that year. Over the weeks, Jinder’s allies, Veer and Shanky, had worked the numbers game on McIntyre, but he defeated them on RAW to bar them from ringside for his match against Jinder and emerged victorious at SummerSlam to etch another victory in his resume at The Biggest Part of the Summer.

SummerSlam 2023

After Drew McIntyre returned from hiatus following WrestleMania 39, he immediately set his sights on Gunther’s WWE Intercontinental, eyeing a singles championship match. McIntyre got his match at SummerSlam against The Ring General, which proved to be a blockbuster showdown between both behemoths. Following a highly intense bout and despite McIntyre’s valiant efforts, The Scottish Warrior failed to dethrone Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam.
