Drew McIntyre recently had an eye injury

With WrestleMania 41 just around the corner, Drew McIntyre’s road to the grand stage of them all has taken a brutal detour and now it’s a race against time for the Scottish Warrior to get medically cleared for battle.

The man once known for kicking heads off with cold precision now finds himself sporting an eyepatch, after a savage assault by Damian Priest on the March 28 edition of SmackDown left him with debris lodged in his eye. The devastating moment came when Priest chokeslammed McIntyre onto a car windshield, a statement attack that may have sidelined Drew at the worst possible time.

In a recent interview with It’s Called Soccer, McIntyre got real about what went down and how close he is to possibly missing WWE WrestleMania.

“Part of the glass, where I landed on the windshield, bounced up and landed directly in my eyeball. I’m currently sporting the patch, hoping I can figure this thing out and get myself on WrestleMania. It’s a fight against time right now,” McIntyre revealed.

Let that sink in he took glass to the eye, and he’s still thinking about getting back in the ring ASAP. That’s the kind of grit only WrestleMania legends are made of. And in true Drew fashion, the warrior spirit still burns, as he downplayed the violence of the bump itself like a man who’s bled for this business.

“It didn’t feel that bad. I’ve never landed on a windshield in my life. He probably should’ve thrown me on top of the car or the concrete to hurt more.”

Drew McIntyre explained that the windshield glass is designed to spider out, and luckily, he was wearing a leather jacket; otherwise, it could’ve been a bloodbath. But the real damage came when a rogue shard bounced into his eye, leaving him fighting not just Damian Priest, but time and fate.

“The eye thing wasn’t supposed to happen. I’m not supposed to be sitting here right now with an eyepatch on, yet, I am.”

WrestleMania 41 is quickly approaching, and fans are holding their breath. Will Drew McIntyre be ready to clash with the Archer of Infamy under the bright lights?
