The Scottish Warrior failed to capture the Undisputed title!

‘The Scottish Warrior’ Drew McIntyre, as announced, battled the Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes in the main event of the inaugural WWE PLE on ESPN, Wrestlepalooza.

The event aired live on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, and ushered in the ESPN era for the promotion in the United States. Multiple big names, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, AJ Lee, CM Punk, Jey Uso, Becky Lynch, and Seth Rollins, among others, competed on the show.

Drew McIntyre crashed through the side of the announce desk

Rhodes defended the Undisputed WWE title for the first time in his second reign against McIntyre. The Champion was severely dealing with the injuries inflicted by McIntyre from last night’s SmackDown.

In the final moments, McIntyre went to Claymore Rhodes through the commentary desk, similar to the one he landed on the August 8 episode of SmackDown, forcing Cody out of action for a month. However, this time, a momentary interference by the official, who tried to prevent it, aided Cody, who escaped, and Drew crashed through the side of the table.

Drew could hardly stand but managed to step into the ring. Cody went for the Cody Cutter, but Drew retaliated with a Glasgow Kiss. McIntyre attempted the Claymore, but his knees buckled as Cody delivered the super Cody Cutter, followed by the Cross Rhodes to retain the title.

The ‘Keyboard Warrior’ strikes again

Following the loss and the freak injury, Drew McIntyre took to his X (Twitter) handle to react to the injury. McIntyre shared an image highlighting the motivational message that “suffering builds character.”

WWE is posting the clip of McIntyre crashing through the table and the Scottish Warrior himself joking about it, which likely means that it was part of the match and Drew was just selling the injury.

However, there is still no clarity whether he has suffered any serious damage, as injuries do happen quite often in pro wrestling. WWE has yet to confirm the nature or severity of Drew’s injury.
