Everything that happened on WWE NXT (June 25, 2024); Tony D’Angelo retains Heritage Cup

This week’s episode confirmed several matches for NXT Heatwave.

WWE held the June 25, 2024 episode of WWE NXT live from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. The show featured a number of interesting matches and segments focusing on building storylines for the upcoming NXT Heatwave pay-per-view.

Get to know what happened on this week’s WWE NXT, as we came out with the complete summary of the show.

Tag Team Turmoil Match

Edris Anofe & Malik Blade vs New Catch Republic

Enofe and Bate started the match and the back to back tag-ins took the match swinging both the ends, however Tyler Bate pinned Edris Anofe to advance.

New Catch Republic vs Legado Del Fantasma

Angel and Berto took control of Bate and Dunne during the initial moments, however Bate and Dunne fought back. During the final moments, Angel and Berto tried for their finisher, but Apollo Crews with a distraction, made Bate deliver a Tyler Driver ‘97 on Berto to eliminate them eliminate and advance 

New Catch Republic vs The OC

The match began during the commercial, however when back to TV time, Tyler took Anderson with the Aeroplane Spin. During the final moments, New Catch Republic pinned Luke Gallows by roll up.

New Catch Republic vs Chase U

The match had extreme swing on both the sides, with Chase U taking initial control, Bate and Dunne giving a tough mid-fight and with the involvement of Ridge Holland. In the final moments Andre Chase of Chase U hit a flying Crossbody on Bate to win the match and become the #1 Contenders for the NXT Championship.

Backstage

Dante Chen met Nathan Frazer and said that he will be having his back for the NXT Heritage Cup match and not to worry about his tag team partner Axiom. Frazer revealed that he has not been to Axiom for a while. On the other hand, Axiom was worried about Frazer not giving importance to the tag titles and him, teasing a possible split.

Who is the #1 Contender for the NXT Championship?

Ethan Page came to the ring and claimed that Je’Von Evans is credited as #1 Contender for winning the Battle Royal, in which Page hasn’t been eliminated. He called out Ava and explained that he defeated Evans the same night and he should be the challenger. 

Shawn Spears interrupted them and said that Ethan Page could not have eliminated him to win and asked Ava to wait until the main event so that she could get a clear picture of who is the next challenger.

Trick Williams interrupted them and said that he doesn’t care who his opponent is, as he will still be the champion after Heatwave. Spears and Page attacked Williams and Evans came for the save.

Joe Coffey vs Wes Lee

Joe Coffey took the initial control of the match with the backbreaker, slips and elbow drops. However, Wes Lee fought back with a DDT and kicked him off. Coffey tried to overpower Lee, but Wes Lee hit him with a Cardio kick to win the match.

After the match, Oba Femi showed up and gave Wes Lee a title match, where if Lee loses he won’t be getting another title shot.

NXT Heritage Cup- Tony D’Angelo vs Nathan Frazer

Frazer won the first round by pinfall after a folding press, making it 0-1. However, Tony D’Angelo took control of the second round and equalled the score to 1-1. The third, fourth and fifth round had no winners, but was filled with a number of close calls. In the sixth round, Tony D’Angelo delivered a Thrust Spinebuster and pinned Frazer with the score 2-1, to win the match and retain the NXT Heritage Cup.

Karmen Petrovic vs Roxanne Perez

Lola Vice was in the commentary for the match. The match swung to and fro. In the final moments of the match, Karmen goes for the series of kicks, but Roxanne Perez blocked her yo deliver a Pop Rox to win the match. 

After the match, Lola Vice came to the ring. Roxanne tried to attack her with the spinning fist, but Lola Vice blocked and took her down, holding the title.

Demon Kemp & Tavion Heights

Both Kemp and Tavion Heights delivered a tough fight, where Kemp had Heights in control most of the time. However, Heights with a Belly to Belly Suplex pinned Kemp and earned the spot in the No Quarter Catch Crew.

NXT Women’s North American Championship #1 Contender’s match

Sol Ruca was fired up from the start of the match with headscissors out the gates, side headlock, codebreaker and loaded up with strikes. Arianna woke up during the mid-match and fought back and took the mid-match in her control. However in the final moments, Sol Ruca delivered a Sol Snatcher and pinned Grace to become the #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

Shawn Spears vs Trick williams

Ethan Page was in the commentary during the match. The match began with Williams having the initial strike. However, Spears took control of Trick, when they took the fight outside the ring.

Oro Mensah showed during the match and attacked Ethan Page in the commentary, however referees separated them.

Although drama broke out during the mid-match, Spears took full control of the champ. Trick got fired up and regained the momentum. Outside the ring an unknown person with a black dress tried to enter the ring, but securities pulled him. The intruder swung the desk panel, which took Trick down and Spears used the momentum to deliver C4 and pin the champ.

NXT Championship match announced

In the backstage, Ava watched the match and announced the NXT Championship match for Heatwave, a Fatal 4-Way Match involving Trick Williams, Ethan Page, Shawn Spears and Je’Von Evans.
