Vega was the first Queen of the Ring

Zelina Vega is one of the most talented professional wrestlers, who has been in WWE since 2017. She represents the Latino culture and has both wrestled and managed a number of wrestlers and factions. She is currently a member of the Latino World Order (LWO) and wrestles under the Raw brand. She is a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and the inaugural Queen of the Ring.

Vega was expected to defend her ‘Queen of the Ring’ title in the upcoming Queen of the Ring tournament and the match was booked against Shayna Baszler in the first round on WWE Live Event, ‘SuperShow’ on May 12, 2024, in Macon Georgia. However, it was reported that she won’t be participating as she is medically not cleared.

Zelina Vega is injured & out of Queen of the Ring Tournament

Adam Pearce ahead of the WWE Live Event on Sunday in Macon, Georgia announced that Zelina Vega is not medically cleared to compete in the first round of the Queen of the Ring Tournament match

“I have a bit of unfortunate injury news. Zelina Vega will not be medically cleared to compete tonight and therefore will be stepping out of the Queen of the Ring Tournament, which is unfortunate given her past history as a Queen of the Ring.”

Pearce then replaced Vega with Maxxine Dupri of Alpha Academy to take her spot.

“But the injury bug strikes again, which opens the door to opportunity for one Maxxine Dupri, who will receive the biggest opportunity in her young career. She will step in tonight against Shayna Baszler… Injuries happen, guys. It’s just the way it is. And changes need to be made. And this one is official,”

Shayna Baszler won the match and advanced to the next round to face IYO SKY in the Semi-finals on the May 13, 2024, episode of Raw.

There is no update on what kind of injury Zelina Vega is facing, how legitimate it is and how long it will take to return for the in-ring action. Vega however apologized to their fans on her Instagram story.

Vega is not the only one who got pulled out from the ongoing King and Queen of the Ring Tournament. Zelina joins the list with Xavier Woods, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Asuka, who were also injured and pulled out from the tournament.
