Gunther last appeared at the King and Queen of the Ring Fallout episode of Raw

Gunther is one of the most dominant professional wrestlers in the modern era, who has been having a great run in WWE. The Ring General has been in WWE since 2019 and has always been the top guy, no matter what brand he steps his foot in. He has a long history with NXT and NXT UK, where he was the former NXT UK Champion and has the longest reign for the title. He made his main roster debut in 2022 and became the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time.

Gunther is always surrounded with gold in the form of a belt, however he recently added a golden & diamond crown to his arsenal by becoming the 2024 King of the Ring. Although being the MVP of the company, the ‘King General’ has been absent from WWE TV for two weeks. Here we explore potential reasons behind his absence.

3. Waiting for the title scene to be cleared

Gunther showed up on the Raw after King and Queen of the Ring PLE for the coronation. More than becoming the King he was most eager to become the World Heavyweight Champion. He had a confrontation with Priest and as soon as Drew McIntyre arrived, Gunther left the ring. The Ring General seems like he doesn’t want to be in the mix until he gets a clear picture of who is the world champion after Clash at the Castle.

2. Ludwig Kaiser to handle business

Gunther would have taken his time-off from WWE to check the potential of Ludwig Kaiser to handle his own business. Gunther always had a concern with Imperium and wanted to handle their business by themselves, as a result they kicked Giovanni Vinci out of the faction.

He could now check the potential of Ludwig Kaiser to handle his business with the ongoing feud with Sheamus. This could give Kaiser his space to shine as a singles star, despite being a sidekick of The Ring General.

1. Waiting for SummerSlam 2024

By winning the King of the Ring tournament, Gunther is guaranteed a title shot for SummerSlam 2024. This is similar to how the Royal Rumble winner gets a title shot at WrestleMania. As their road is clear for a future big event, they won’t be involved in any other feuds. Gunther might be preparing for his SummerSlam match and doesn’t wanna risk his body in any other feuds.
