Fan theory on MAJOR potential match for WWE Wrestlepalooza 2026 in Perth

WWE NXT is preparing for a major November 4 episode, featuring CM Punk challenging Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship, alongside appearances by John Cena and Cody Rhodes.
The special edition will take place on Wednesday as NXT goes head-to-head with AEW’s Blood & Guts. However, the biggest change to the brand’s calendar concerns its final Premium Live Event of 2026.

WWE has announced the return of TLC on December 6, replacing the traditional NXT Deadline event. The decision has raised questions about the future of the popular Iron Survivor Challenge, which has been a regular feature of Deadline since 2022.
Amid the change, a fan has proposed an interesting way to bring the stipulation to the main roster at Wrestlepalooza – a five-man contest featuring some of WWE’s biggest names.
Idea for Iron Survivor Challenge featuring Finn Balor, Gunther, Johnny Gargano, CM Punk and Kevin Owens
After the Halloween Havoc‘s success, the developmental program announced replacing Deadline with TLC. This might cause the Iron Survivor Challenge to miss its traditional December spot for the first time since its introduction. A fan has now floated an interesting idea of bringing the stipulation to the main roster at Wrestlepalooza Perth, featuring Finn Balor, Gunther, Johnny Gargano, CM Punk and Kevin Owens.
The proposed five-man contest would bring together five established WWE Superstars with contrasting wrestling styles and personalities. Balor’s athleticism, Gunther’s physical dominance, Gargano’s technical ability, Punk’s experience, and Owens’ aggressive approach could make for an entertaining encounter, with a title shot on the line.
The Iron Survivor Challenge follows a unique 25-minute format. Two competitors begin the match, while the remaining three enter at five-minute intervals. The objective is to score the most falls through pinfalls, submissions, or disqualifications before the time expires. A Superstar who concedes a fall must spend 90 seconds in the penalty box before returning to the contest. The wrestler with the highest number of points at the end wins.
The format has become one of NXT’s most popular match concepts since its introduction in 2022. Grayson Waller and Roxanne Perez were the inaugural winners, while subsequent editions helped elevate several NXT talents into championship contention.
Bringing it to Wrestlepalooza could give the promotion an opportunity to showcase the concept to a larger audience. The five suggested participants also have enough established credibility to make every fall meaningful. Gunther, in particular, would be an interesting inclusion because of the challenge of protecting his dominant presentation while competing in a format that requires multiple falls.
However, this remains a fan proposal and not a reported creative plan. The company has not announced an Iron Survivor Challenge for Wrestlepalooza or confirmed any of the five names for the match.
The December 12 event at Perth’s RAC Arena is part of the Stamford-based promotion’s Australian weekend, while NXT TLC will also take place on December 12 at the Performance Center in Orlando.
Why is NXT not hosting the Iron Survivor Challenge in December 2026?
WWE has replaced its traditional NXT Deadline PLE with NXT TLC, scheduled for December 12, 2026. Since the Iron Survivor Challenge has traditionally been associated with Deadline, its place on the calendar is uncertain this year.
