WWE programming is in dire need of some drastic changes.

WWE is moving ahead on the road to WrestleMania 42 in full force. However, they have been hitting minor speed bumps along the way, including low ticket sales, major people leaving backstage roles, and relying on only big stars to build hype for The Show of Shows.

With the event only a few weeks away, here are five major changes WWE needs to implement in programming ahead of the 42nd edition of WrestleMania.

5. Make new World Champions

WWE recently put the Undisputed WWE Championship back on Cody Rhodes on the road to WrestleMania 42. This attracted a lot of negative response from the audience, who voiced their opinion online.

This is a clear sign that WWE needs to make new World Champions, such as Sami Zayn or others, which would create a shocker yet excitement as The Show of Shows approaches.

4. Bringing back some Attitude Era storylines

One of the most raging times in professional wrestling was the infamous ‘Attitude Era’ in WWE. Vince McMahon revolutionized the business with edgy and captivating storylines that led WWE to win the Monday Night Wars. The current regime should draw inspiration from that period and implement it in the modern era.

3. Women’s Main Event at WrestleMania 42

The Stamford-based promotion garnered major eyeballs in 2019 when it announced the first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event.

It took place again in 2021, but it hasn’t happened since. WWE can create buzz by having women main event one night of WrestleMania 42, which could be a huge crowd puller.

2. Push deserving stars

One of the biggest flaws in the current WWE creative regime is failing to give deserving stars their due. The names include top stars like LA Knight and Sami Zayn, who are highly over with the fans.

WWE should flip the narrative and position those names in marquee spots at WrestleMania 42, which could be the start of their monster push.

1. Not to rely solely on marquee names

WWE has been relying heavily on box-office attractions to sell WrestleMania 42 and other Premium Live Events, instead of building up good feuds and storylines, and as mentioned, focusing on pushing deserving stars.

While it is a smart business approach, it has taken away the opportunity to build new stars on live television. WWE should put its focus more on the future than on the past on the road to WrestleMania this year.

When and where will WrestleMania 42 take place?

The 42nd edition of WrestleMania will take place as a two-night event on Saturday, April 18 and 19, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.

Who will be the main event at WrestleMania 42?

The match between CM Punk and Roman Reigns is widely expected to headline Night Two of the PLE, while Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton is anticipated to close Night One. However, this remains speculation, as both matches have been confirmed as main events, but WWE has yet to officially announce which bout will headline each night.
