The former Middleweight Champion returns to the octagon this Saturday.

‘The Last Stylebender’ Israel Adesanya is all set for his UFC return this Saturday, against a rising contender, Joe Pyfer. This will be Adesanya’s first appearance since 1 Feb, 2025, when he suffered a defeat against Nassourdine Imavov.

Ahead of the fight, Adesanya has been busy with his media duties and recently sat down with Full Send MMA, discussing his upcoming fight, his career, his reign as the UFC Middleweight Champion, and more.

Israel Adesanya has high praise for Oba Femi

During the discussion, Adesanya, who is a massive WWE and pro-wrestling fan, was asked to list his all-time top five favorite WWE entrances. Notably, he once paid tribute to The Undertaker by recreating the legend’s iconic entrance during his title defense against Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 in 2022.

Responding to the question, Adesanya named Rey Mysterio, The Rock, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Stacy Keibler, and Oba Femi. He also detailed being in the arena at WrestleMania 41 and witnessing Stone Cold’s appearance firsthand.

“Top five, top five. Rey Mysterio is definitely one of them, just the toes up, boom. Cool finishing move, 619. Let’s see, The Rock, definitely. Then when you hear the ‘If you smell…’ Stone Cold and when you hear the glass shatter, you know what’s happening.

I was at WrestleMania last year, and it was a surprise, but I had a feeling he was going to show up. When I heard the glass shatter, I lost my f****g mind. Who else, let me think. You know what, Stacy Keibler was nice, she was nice.“

While talking about Femi, the former Middleweight Champion has high praise for Oba, who recently made his main roster debut and is set to face Brock Lesnar at the upcoming WrestleMania 42.

Adesanya praised Oba, noting that he admires the way he’s carrying the company right now. He also clarified the correct pronunciation of his name, highlighting how African names are often mispronounced.

“One more, I’d say uh…., I’d say right now Oba Femi. I really like the way he moves, I like how he’s carrying WWE right now. He’s the guy, he’s got that swagger. So shout out to Oba Femi, It’s not Oba, it’s “OBA” femi. that’s the guy right now.”

While Adesanya and Femi are currently based in New Zealand and the United States, respectively, both share Nigerian roots.

The former Champion is aiming to get back into the win column

Adesanya will take on Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) standout Joe Pyfer on March 28 at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. Since losing the title to Sean Strickland, Adesanya has been unable to register a win and is currently on a three-fight losing streak.

On the other hand, after a loss against Jack Hermansson, Pyfer has bounced back in style and is currently on a three-fight win streak, looking to defeat the former Champion and stake his claim at the Middleweight gold.

The undercard of UFC Seattle features top names like former UFC Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso, Maycee Barber, Michael Chiesa, Terrance McKinney, Casey O’Neill, and Ignacio Bahamondes, among others.

What did Israel Adesanya say about Oba Femi?
