Vince McMahon recently attempted to acquire BKFC.

Largely out of the WWE bubble, former CEO and co-founder, Vince McMahon, recently made headlines again when news of his attempts to buy a controlling interest in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). The promotion is part-owned by MMA star and former UFC double Champion, Conor McGregor.

According to Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, the former WWE CEO has recently attempted to acquire a controlling stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

BKFC’s founder and president, David Feldman, clarified on the issue to the outlet, confirming a meeting between the two parties. However, Feldman had no intentions of giving up full control of BKFC.

“He’s a great guy, his whole team is great, but the timing wasn’t right for us,” said Feldman. “He’s Vince McMahon–if I were him, I’d want creative control, too. He was awesome, very complimentary, and he was very serious to do business.”

Insiders are confident Vince McMahon will return to pro-wrestling

Vince McMahon’s decision to try to purchase Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship follows the launch of his entertainment venture, 14TH & I. However, according to Barrasso, insiders remain unsold on the idea that the company will suddenly start producing television shows or films.

Several executives within combat sports and pro wrestling believe that the former WWE CEO’s return to pro wrestling is inevitable. “McMahon will ultimately find himself involved again in professional wrestling.”  Some wrestlers have also told Barrasso, off the record, that McMahon continues to be held in high regard and still enjoys significant support within the industry.

Rumors about McMahon’s interest in buying back the company had also picked up steam earlier. However, it was later revealed and confirmed by multiple reports that the rumor is false, as Masked J of PW Nexus noted on X (Twitter) that TKO is uninterested in selling a sports entertainment giant, with one source laughing at the idea of McMahon trying to purchase the company.

The former co-founder and CEO, resigned as WWE CEO and chairman in June 2022, following claims of hush-money agreements over affairs with former WWE employees. He later returned to the promotion in early 2023 to facilitate the sale of the company.

In 2023, WWE was merged with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) to form the TKO group by their parent company, Endeavor Group Holdings in April. McMahon returned to serve as the executive chairman of the newly merged company, TKO Group Holdings (TKO).

Vince later resigned from his position at TKO Group in January 2024 following allegations of trafficking and assault. The TKO deal is the first time that the promotion is not entirely owned and operated by the McMahon family.

TKO has denied the reports that they are looking to sell WWE

“The stories of him [Vince McMahon] somehow buying WWE, and I even saw a line in a story about how TKO is looking to sell WWE and it’s like, aside from that being denied all day, TKO has just saved between $100 million and $150 million by essentially removing so many jobs and things like that because they could operate UFC and WWE with the same office staff.”
