Former WWE star Dakota Kai announces engagement to Karl Fredericks

The former WWE star revealed the announcement on her podcast.
Former WWE star Dakota Kai, on Friday’s edition of her Zelvx and Charlie Girl podcast, revealed that she is officially engaged to longtime partner and fellow former WWE star Karl Fredericks.
Kai (Cheree Crowley) revealed that Fredericks proposed to her on their two-year anniversary. The couple got engaged in Sanford, Florida, after Fredericks had to adjust his original proposal plans.
The pair had gone out for an anniversary dinner, and Fredericks initially planned to take Kai to a nearby garden afterward, but the location was closed. He then decided to head to Sanford instead, a meaningful place for the couple since it was where they shared their second date.
Fredericks proposed it there, and Cheere said ‘Yes.’ Kai also shared that the proposal had been in the works for some time, revealing that Fredericks had previously asked her parents for their blessing during a Christmas trip to New Zealand.

Both Kai and her partner Karl were part of a round of releases in May 2025. The exit ended Kai’s second tenure with WWE, during which she was part of the Damage CTRL faction, even capturing the Women’s Tag Team titles twice alongside her Damage CTRL stablemate, Iyo Sky.
Kai now wrestles on the independent circuit under the ring name Charlie. Her last in-ring appearance came during the HOG Culture Clash 2026 PPV in April, where she battled former WWE star Shotzi Blackheart for the HOG Women’s title.
On the other hand, Fredricks competed in NXT under the name ‘Eddy Thorpe.’ Karl later revealed that he requested his release from the company.
Post-WWE, Karl shifted much of his focus toward DJing and music production and is currently gearing up to co-produce a show with Produce Wrestling in October. Meanwhile, his last in-ring appearance came in November 2025 at TWF Wreck The Halls 2025.
