Night of Champions will emanate from Riyadh.
The build towards Night of Champions has kicked off following the conclusion of Clash in Italy. The 2026 edition of the show is set for June 27, 2026, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While the finals of the 2026 King & Queen of the Ring tournament are confirmed for the show, WWE has not announced any other matches.
As WWE continues to build towards Night of Champions in the coming weeks of weekly shows of Raw and SmackDown, let us take a look at four blockbuster rematches that they can announce for the PLE in Riyadh.
4. Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes
Carmelo Hayes, since losing the United States title, a controversial decision that saw him miss WrestleMania 42, despite putting on incredible title defense week after week, has recently returned to programming, with matches against Ricky Saints. The feud started when Saints inserted himself into the title discussion between reigning Champion Trick Williams and Hayes.
WWE has been treating the matches between Saints and Hayes as a precursor to a title showdown, potentially involving the three or ir not, they also have the option to book Williams vs Hayes for the title. Both stars have ongoing storylines, and WWE can weave in their time in NXT to book a show-stealing rematch.
3. Sol Ruca vs Becky Lynch

Sol Ruca at the Clash in Italy did the unthinkable when she managed to defeat Becky Lynch in a rematch from SNME, where the Women’s Intercontinental title was on the line. The win saw Ruca register her first win via pinfall, as well as her first title since moving to the main roster. Ruca getting the major spotlight against one of the biggest names showcases the trust WWE has in her abilities.
However, a humiliating loss is likely to frustrate Lynch, who has consistently bounced back in style after setbacks. In fact, since her return, she has regained the title twice within a year after losing it, including the win over Lyra Valkyria, where she first captured the championship. A rematch might be Becky’s first order of business when she returns and Night of Champions will be the perfect spot to book the rematch.
2. Liv Morgan vs Stephanie Vaquer

Multiple reports have made it clear that the only reason Liv Morgan’s Women’s World title reign has barely been featured on WWE programming is that WWE is waiting on Stephanie Vaquer’s return from injury and has no other plans for Liv, which is why they have inserted her into the Queen of the Ring tournament, even though she is herself the World Champion.
That said, reports were rampant of Vaquer’s return around the Clash in Italy, something which didn’t materialize. If Vaquer makes her return in time, WWE should definitely book the World title rematch between the two women.
1. Cody Rhodes vs Gunther

On the fallout show of SmackDown, Gunther already asked for a rematch, citing the controversial finish, which saw the referee count the pin despite Gunther’s leg being under the ropes. Cody Rhodes is willing to grant him the rematch, and Gunther will accept the rematch on one condition, which he will reveal next week.
On the other hand, Cody has made it clear that he is not going to wait long and wants to have the match two weeks from now, that being the June 19th SmackDown in Kansas City. WWE will surely not book this match on a weekly show of SmackDown when Night of Champions is just around the corner.
The promotion will likely end up booking the rematch for the PLE and not on the June 19th show. Additionally, if there is any possibility of Randy Orton’s return, then they might end up doing the WrestleMania rematch at SummerSlam, the matchup that can be set up with Randy’s return, during the rematch between Cody and Gunther at Night of Champions.
