The 2026 edition of Backlash is set for May 9th.
After the conclusion of WrestleMania 42, WWE is now gearing up for the 2026 edition of Backlash and will deliver the April 27 edition of WWE Raw this Monday.
Live from the Sames Auto Arena in Laredo, Texas, the show will likely feature match announcements for the PLE, which is set for May 9 at the Benchmark Arena in Tampa, Florida. Here we take a look at four high-stakes showdowns that GM Adam Pearce can announce for Backlash on this Monday’s Raw.
4. Pents vs Rusev
During the match between Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page, Rusev came out attacking Evans, aiding Page to secure the win. After the match, Rusev continued the attack, locking in the accolade, when WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta arrived to aid Evans. However, he too fell prey to the Bulgarian Brute, who locked him in the accolade and then posed with the title, hinting at a rematch for the title after Mania.
Penta lives by his mantra, “Cero miedo,” and will likely refuse to back down. A callout or a brawl on Monday might lead to Perace announcing a title rematch between the two for Backlash.

3. Liv Morgan vs Stephanie Vaquer

Liv Morgan defeated Stephanie Vaquer to capture the Women’s World title at WrestleMania. Last week, Liv held a celebration last week, which was interrupted by Sol Ruca, leading to a match between the two where Liv won after Zaria’s interference.
However, after the match, Vaquer came out to have a fierce face-off with Morgan. With reports of a rematch between the two, Pearce might announce the rematch this Monday in Texas, giving Vaquer a chance to avenge the loss and regain the title.
2. Iyo Sky vs Asuka

Despite massive fan outcry, the highly anticipated clash between Iyo Sky and Asuka was never announced for WrestleMania.
However, reports now suggest that WWE will book this matchup at Backlash. Notably, Kairi Sane is no longer part of the promotion, making it interesting to see how WWE fills that gap, especially given her significant role in the storyline.
1. Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu
Last week, Jacob Fatu challenged the newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns, stating that while he’s not out here to be Tribal Chief, he needs everything that Roman has. Despite Reigns sending The Usos (Jey & Jimmy Uso) to talk some sense into Fatu, the Samaon Werewolf is adamant about his challenge.
Reigns is now set to address Fatu’s Backlash challenge, and the segment is likely going to end up in the match announcement in Texas. What role will the Usos play in it, and if WWE decides to revive the Bloodline once again, that remains to be seen.
