Fun Fact: Stephanie Vaquer's World Title win in Chile at WWE live event breaks 32 year long record

Stephanie Vaquer captured the Women’s World title in Chile.
After coming up short in their WrestleMania 42 rematch on the September 7 edition of Raw, Stephanie Vaquer turned the tide, defeating Liv Morgan to capture the Women’s World title at a WWE live event in Santiago, Chile.
The match ended with Liv arguing with the special guest referee Becky before hitting Oblivion on Vaquer, but Lynch stopped counting after two to flip Liv off. Vaquer then took control, landing the SVB before following up with the Vaquer Inferno to pin Morgan and reclaim the World title.
With the win, Vaquer has kicked off her second World title reign, while Morgan’s third World title reign came to an end with the loss in Chile at 147 days.
While Vaquer’s title win in her home country was a major talking point, many fans were also surprised at WWE opting for a title change at a Live event, something that has not been the precedent, especially in the TKO era.
In fact, title changes of this magnitude at non-televised WWE events have become increasingly rare over the years. So, just how long has it been since a WWE World Championship changed hands at a house show?

The last time a WWE World title changed hands at a live event (House show) was when Diesel defeated Bob Backlund for the WWF Championship in record-setting eight seconds at a live event at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The live event took place on November 26, 1994, which means it is almost 32 years since a World title changed hands at a house show until Vaquer picked up the shocking win over Morgan on September 12, 2026.
Notably, Mickie James pinned Victoria to become the new Women’s champion in a triple threat match involving the reigning Champion Melina at a House Show in Paris, France, on April 24th, 2007. However, Melina got an instant rematch right after and pinned James to regain the title.
That said, there is a lot of confusion surrounding the matter, as the title is now inactive, and WWE’s historical records do not always distinguish between every championship change that took place at non-televised live events. As a result, we will have to wait and see how WWE officially classifies these title changes when determining the most recent instance.
Other recent examples of WWE titles (not World titles) changing hands at a live event include Andrade defeating Rey Mysterio to win the United States title at Madison Square Garden on December 26, 2019.
Before that, on July 7, 2017, AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens for the United States Championship, also at a live event at Madison Square Garden.
