Goldberg has delivered some great in-ring showdowns during his time in WWE
Bill Goldberg is one of the most accomplished and dominant in-ring WWE superstars of all time. The man who carved out a 173-0 winning streak in WCW has been a top legend of the business for many years and is set to have one last dance in the ring.
Goldberg revealed that he will be wrestling his retirement match in 2025. While he is still awaiting medical clearance, it would surely be a sight to witness. So before Goldberg steps into the ring one last time, here is a look back at Goldberg’s top seven WWE matches:
7. Dolph Ziggler (2019)
Dolph Ziggler had been trash-talking about Goldberg for weeks amidst his ongoing feud with The Miz. He signed the contract for a match at SummerSlam 2019, thinking it to be either against The Miz or Shawn Michaels. Instead, he got Goldberg. The WCW Icon decimated The Showoff in minutes and displayed a dominant performance that led him to victory.
6. Bobby Lashley (2021)
Bobby Lashley was the reigning WWE Champion in 2021. He was slated for a legendary challenge for his title against the WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg at the Crown Jewel PLE. It was a No Holds Barred falls count anywhere match between them. It was a clash of the giants between them as Goldberg and Ziggler went to lengths to destroy each other. In the end, it was Lashley who retained his title over the WCW Icon.
5. Defeating the Fiend (2020)
Bray Wyatt had been terrorizing the WWE landscape with his alter ego, the Fiend. In the process of his reign of terror, he had also become the WWE Universal Champion and remained undefeated. However, The Fiend was handed his first loss at the hands of Goldberg at the 2020 WWE Super Showdown event. Goldberg delivered multiple spears to put away the monster and win his second WWE Universal title.
4. Brock Lesnar (2016)
The fans had left the hope of seeing Goldberg ever compete in WWE since his departure in 2004. That came to an end when Brock Lesnar challenged him to a match. He returned to WWE after 12 years and agreed to face the Beast Incarnate. The behemoths met at the 2016 WWE Survivor Series event. In a shocking conclusion, Goldberg took less than two minutes to put away Lesnar and win his first match back in WWE.
3. The Rock (2004)
Following WCW’s closure in 2001, it took two years before Goldberg made his debut on the RAW after WrestleMania 19. He got in the face of The Rock in his first appearance and took him down with a spear. The duo clashed in a dream showdown between them and led to Goldberg destroying the Final Boss in grand fashion to pick his first major win in WWE.
2. Winning first World title (2003)
During Goldberg’s first run in WWE which lasted only a year, he was able to call himself a World Champion. He competed in a last-chance match against then reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H at WWE Unforgiven 2003. Despite the interference of his Evolution cohorts, Goldberg managed to reign supreme over The Game and defeat him to become the new World Champion.
1. Roman Reigns (2022)
The world was about to witness Roman Reigns vs Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 for the WWE Universal title. But COVID’s onset led to Reigns backing out from the match. Fast-forward to the 2022 Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia, the past and present collided in an epic showdown. The match was highly captivating, and Goldberg’s performance was widely regarded despite falling to The OTC at the end.
