Gunther has some of the big-time records in his five-year WWE career!

Gunther is one of the fastest-rising and dominant WWE superstars on the active roster. The Ring General has been in WWE since 2019 and has always been the top guy, whichever brand he steps his foot in. He had a long history with the NXT and NXT UK brands, where he was the longest-reigning NXT UK Champion.

He made his WWE main roster debut in 2022 and became the Intercontinental Champion within two months of his debut. He holds the record holding the title as the longest-reigning IC Champion. The Austrian is now stepping foot into the 2024 SummerSlam with a new challenge and here we take a look at his all-time SummerSlam record.

Gunther’s SummerSlam record

In 2023, Gunther made his SummerSlam debut in style by defending his Intercontinental Championship against Drew McIntyre in a singles match. Both had a backstory at WrestleMania 39, where Gunther defeated Drew McIntyre & Sheamus to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

This is a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship between Gunther & Drew McIntyre. Drew was the babyface and Gunther was the heel, who has been carrying out an undefeated record since debut.

The match took place at a fast pace, where both tried to end the match too soon, looking for each other’s finishing moves and countering with signatures. Both took each other to the limit and Drew was so close to dethroning The Ring General.

However, with the rapid moves, top rope splash, vicious clothesline and a powerbomb, the mighty Austrian steeled the victory and retained his Intercontinental Championship. With this, The Ring General opened his SummerSlam record with (1-0).

The Ring General earned a world title shot at SummerSlam 2024 by winning the 2024 King of the Ring tournament. He then challenged Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at the 2024 SummerSlam PLE.

The Ring General emerged victorious to further his record to (2-0) and then defended the World Heavyweight title against CM Punk at the 2025 edition. However, he suffered his first loss at the PLE, dropping the title to Punk in the main event of Night 1 of the 2025 edition.
