Gunther signs new WWE deal
‘The Ring General’ Gunther has officially re-upped with WWE, confirming during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show that he signed a new multi-year contract toward the end of 2024. And this isn’t just your standard renewal, Gunther’s new deal comes with a major perk: a personal tour bus.
Yep, you heard that right. The most dominant force in modern pro wrestling is no longer dealing with airport chaos and long rental car drives between towns. According to Gunther, the tour bus was something he personally requested and WWE granted it without hesitation. When you’re a record-breaking champion and one of the most consistent stars on the roster, you get what you ask for.
“It was something I asked for,” Gunther revealed. “I’m set where I am. Nothing else really… no. How could I? I saw that statistic recently—since I signed in 2019, I’ve been champion like 85 or 90 percent of the time. So obviously, they always saw me in a certain way and gave me that trust. And I enjoy that.”
Gunther’s loyalty is well-earned. Since signing with WWE in 2019, the Austrian powerhouse has racked up a résumé that future Hall of Famers would envy. He’s the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time with a 666-day reign, a former NXT UK Champion who defined that brand, and the reigning World Heavyweight Champion since SummerSlam 2024, where he dethroned Damian Priest.
Now, he’s rolling into WrestleMania 41 with 249 days as World Heavyweight Champion—and the biggest threat to that reign is Royal Rumble 2025 winner Jey Uso. The two are set to clash on Night One of WrestleMania, April 19th, in a blockbuster matchup with historic implications.
If Gunther retains, he’ll be just 67 days away from breaking Seth Rollins’ record as the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion in the title’s current lineage. With records already shattered at every level, Gunther is one win away from putting his name atop yet another mountain.
New deal. New wheels. Same dominance. Wrestling fans, believe it: The era of The Ring General is far from over and now it comes with air conditioning, leather seats, and a whole lot more gold on the horizon.
