The Ring General has displayed his dominance since making his debut in 2019!

‘The Ring General’ Gunther began his WWE career in the developmental brand NXT in 2019, gradually establishing the dominance he’s now known for by defeating top names and capturing prestigious titles along the way.

Gunther, then known as Walter, defeated Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: New York 2019 to capture the United Kingdom title. He then went on to defend the title nine times for a total title reign of 870 days.

This wasn’t a fluke for the Ring General as he carried his distinction to the main roster after debuting in April 2022. Just two months later, he defeated Ricochet to become the first Austrian Intercontinental Champion in WWE history. He then defended the title successfully 21 times with a total reign of 666 days, ultimately dropping the title in April 2024, almost two years later.

Gunther‘s next title in the promotion was the coveted World Heavyweight Championship, which he captured after defeating Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024 PLE. The win saw him become the face of Monday Night Raw, defending the title for a total of five times against tough opposition, including Randy Orton, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn, among others.

However, his title reign ended at 259 days when Jey Uso made him tap in the rematch at WrestleMania 41 (Saturday) to shatter his reign and become the new World Heavyweight Champion. The Ring General is now looking ahead, potentially focusing on his next move in the WWE.

The Ring General battled Monday Night Raw’s commentator and star sports analyst Pat McAfee, this was announced following a heated exchange involving the two and Michael Cole on the Raw after WrestleMania show.

Gunther confronted Cole during the show for the things he said, which the Ring General took offense to and proceeded to attack Cole and lock in the choke. However, McAfee jumped in to save him, but in the process, he paid the ultimate price, as he was choked unconscious. The two stars will now battle on May 10 in St. Louis.

As expected, the Ring General pretty easily dominated the matchup, firing back much more devastating shots to McAfee’s offense and putting the broadcaster to sleep, picking up his first win at the PLE.
