The Ring General kicked off his WWE career with NXT!
‘The Ring General’ Gunther kicked off his WWE career in the developmental brand, NXT in 2019 and instantly created a name for himself. He kicked off a feud after the debut with the then WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne.
Gunther, then known as Walter, defeated Dunne three months later at NXT TakeOver: New York 2019 to capture the United Kingdom title. He then went on to defend the title nine times for a total title reign of 870 days.
This wasn’t a one-off thing for the Ring General as he repeated the same success and dominance on the main roster following his debut in April 2022. Two months later, he defeated Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Championship, making him the first Austrian to win the title.
Gunther then defended the title successfully 21 times with a total reign of 666 days, ultimately dropping the title in April 2024, almost two years later. The Ring General then set his sights on the World title and was successful in capturing the title as he defeated Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024 PLE.
The win kicked off his World Heavyweight title run, which has been going on and was at 252 days with five title defenses. The Ring General is not only regarded as one of the best active wrestlers in the world but is also a fighting champion who defends his title and decimates opponents.
