The WWE Intercontinental Championship is one of the prestigious titles in WWE, which has made a huge impact in the company. Gunther the current Intercontinental Champion has put a lot of prestige and work to elevate the title to a whole new level.
He has been holding the title for almost two years and has delivered some of the greatest matches and title defenses, making it one of the relevant titles in the company. Adding praise to the title, a WWE Hall of Famer credited WWE Chief Content Officer, Triple H for his work with the IC title.
Bubba Ray Dudley on WWE Intercontinental Championship staus
Bubba Ray Dudley (aka Bully Ray) on the recent edition of his Busted Open Radio Podcast spoke about the current status of the Intercontinental Championship. He credited Triple H for making the title definitive and carving out its identity like when they were kids.
Bubba Ray Dudley said,
“The championship is hot because once Triple H fully took over creative, even before he fully took it over, even when Vince disappeared the first time, I felt that they were putting a lot of shine and heaping a lot of praise and credibility on the IC Championship. Vince came back, GUNTHER was still staying the course, Vince leaves again, and I think Hunter has really put the pedal to the metal with this championship.”
“Because I believe he believes that if there is a championship out there, it has to mean something. You know how I feel about championships of professional wrestling. There are entirely too many championships that mean absolutely nothing and don’t have a carved-out identity. The IC Championship now has a definitive, carved-out identity, the same for us when we were kids.”
Gunther is all set to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40. It is important to note that both the superstars delivered a near five-star rating matches last year.
