‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles and ‘The Ring General’ Gunther are set to lock horns inside the squared circle on the January 12, 2026, episode of Raw.

The January 12 edition of Monday Night Raw will take place at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. WWE is advertising the match as the first time ever that the two will go head-to-head inside the squared circle.

Yes, Styles and Gunther have squared off inside the squared circle multiple times. However, all of their encounters have taken place at WWE live events and not on television, which means they have never faced each other on RAW, SmackDown, or a Premium Live Event.

Their upcoming encounter on the January 12, 2026, episode of Raw will be their first televised encounter. Styles and Gunther first faced each other during the WWE SuperShow Holiday Tour on December 12, 2022, at the Vibrant Arena at The Mark in Moline, Illinois, USA.

The Intercontinental title was on the line during the showdown, which Gunther retained via disqualification. On the other hand, their last and most recent encounter was during the WWE Road To WrestleMania 2025 House Show that emanated from ZAG Arena in Hannover, Niedersachsen, Deutschland on March 16, 2-2025.

The Ring General defeated Styles in a steel cage match to retain the World Heavyweight title in the aforementioned meeting. This marked their sixth encounter.
