Vince McMahon resigned from his position at TKO Group in January 2024
The former co-founder and CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon resigned as WWE CEO and chairman in June 2022, following claims of hush-money agreements over affairs with former WWE employees. He later returned to the promotion in early 2023 to facilitate the sale of the company.
In 2023, WWE was merged with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) to form TKO group by their parent company Endeavor Group Holdings in April. McMahon returned to serve as the executive chairman of the newly merged company, TKO Group Holdings (TKO).
Vince later resigned from his position at TKO Group in January 2024 following allegations of trafficking and assault. The TKO deal is the first time that the promotion is not entirely owned and operated by the McMahon family.
Vince McMahon remains a major shareholder in TKO Group Holdings
While McMahon is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the WWE he remains a major shareholder in TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE and UFC as mentioned earlier. While McMahon has sold a significant amount of his TKO shares since his resignation, he still owned 8,021,405 shares as of September 30, 2024, and there have been no indications that he has sold his remaining stock.
According to estimates by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, since February 2025, Vince McMahon’s ownership stake in TKO has decreased following the company’s acquisition of Professional Bull Riders, On Location, and IMG from Endeavor in an all-stock deal. This shift in assets boosted Endeavor’s stake in TKO to 61%, while McMahon’s share dropped to 4.06%.
McMahon’s remaining equity in TKO is now valued at around $1 billion. Recent filings show that other members of the McMahon family still hold significant stock in TKO Group Holdings. Stephanie McMahon is estimated to own 0.98%, Linda McMahon holds 0.29%, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque owns approximately 0.02% of the company.
Additionally, reports from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select suggest that McMahon occasionally watches WWE’s programming. After being asked during a Fightful Q&A about Vince McMahon’s feelings on the current WWE product, Sean said: “I’ve not heard about his feelings about anything like that but I have heard that occasionally he’ll watch and stuff like that.”
