Ilja Dragunov's WWE main roster call-up confirmed after NXT title loss at Spring Breakin’

Ilja Dragunov is one of the toughest and striking professional wrestlers, who has been in WWE since 2019. He was initially assigned to NXT UK and had a career defining run by dethroning Walter to end his 870 days reign.
Dragunov then moved to NXT and made a great impact. He climbed up the ladder to become one of the top stars of the secondary brand and a championship contender. Ilja soon became the NXT Champion and became an unstoppable force. There was a huge anticipation of when he will be making his main roster debut. However, it seems his main roster call-up is confirmed after the NXT Spring Breakin’ Night 1 title loss earlier today.

Fightful Select previously reported that NXT would play a major role in this year’s draft and Shawn Michaels was not sure about who will be moving from NXT to Main Roster (Raw & SmackDown) in the draft. However, a spoiler that Carmelo Hayes & Ilja Dragunov are said to be locked for either Raw or SmackDown.
Ahead of the WWE Draft, Ilja Dragunvo defended his NXT Championship at NXT Spring Breakin’ Night 1 against Trick Williams in a singles match, where if Trick lost, he would be leaving NXT. In one of the more anticipated and tough matches, Trick Williams dethroned Dragunov to become the new NXT Champion for the first time.
Dragunov presented the title to Trick, making it a kind of passing the torch moment. This made fans believe that this would be the last match of Dragunov in NXT and would be moving to the main roster through the WWE Draft.
To confirm the rumors and speculations, NXT General Manager, Ava on X thanked Ilja for everything he did for NXT. Ava wrote, “@UNBESEIGBAR_ZAR [Ilja Dragunov] is the definition of giving your all every single time. Thank you for everything, you make this show so special. #NXT”
It is important to note that Ilja Dragunov had already teased of moving to the main roster, by appearing on the Raw after WrestleMania 40 and eventually defeating Shinsuke Nakamura. In the same way where a number of NXT stars were also made into the main roster in recent times including Baron Corbin, Dragon Lee, The Creed Brothers and so on.
