The Women’s World Champion was brutally attacked despite injury.
‘La Primera’ Stephanie Vaquer successfully retained the Women’s World title in a triple-threat match against Raquel Rodriguez and Nikki Bella on the final WWE Raw of 2026. However, the Champion suffered an injury during the gruelling title defense.
Vaquer made an appearance on the first Raw of 2026, wearing a walking boot on her left foot. Vaquer reflected on her incredible 2025 run, highlighting her four championship reigns, her Raw debut, competing at Evolution, and other major milestones.
She then recapped her World Title victory, thanked the crowd, and delivered a promo in Spanish, putting the entire division on notice. The Champion also made it clear that her injury would not slow her down, saying she wanted everyone and wanted more.
Raquel Rodriguez launched a brutal attack on the injured Champion
As Stephanie Vaquer wrapped up her promo, Raquel Rodriguez suddenly attacked her from behind. Rodriguez targeted Vaquer’s injured ankle, repeatedly slamming it into the mat. Big Mami Cool then finished the assault with a Tahana Bomb, but wasn’t done yet, as she brought a steel chair into the ring.
Officials rushed in to diffuse the situation and save Vaquer from taking further damage. However, Rodriguez once again attacked the Champion backstage moments later, targeting the injured ankle, until Adam Pearce rushed in, warning Raquel of serious repercussions.
This attack left many fans wondering if Vaquer is being written off TV due to the injury and likely being stripped of the Women’s World title. Likely for WWE fans, this isn’t the case as per a new report from PWInsider.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider Elite reports that Vaquer is dealing with a legitimate injury, but it’s not serious enough to require a lengthy absence. Crucially, there’s no indication that she will have to relinquish the Women’s World title or that a new champion will be crowned.
WWE likely will use the segment to set up a rematch between the two when Vaquer is medically cleared. The segment will also add more to the feud, keeping fans engaged.
